I had lap band surgery in 2014 with moderate success. It got me down from 265 to 220 in six months. My weight stayed stable for about 4 years until I had to have the fluid let out due to being unable to swallow anything. Since then my weight has been slowly creeping cack up again.
My insurance does does not cover Bariatric surgery. I am trying to find someone who has had good experience with a reasonably priced doctor that performed a band to VSG revision. I will travel to Mexico if necessary though it makes me extremely nervous and would prefer to find someone in the states. My local doctor charges $19k and does it as a two-step hoping to find something more reasonable
Crysharris: I'm just curious...do you know what your Demeester score was from your Bravo testing?
Hi,
- I recently got a revision from RNY to Duodenal Switch by Dr. Roslin about 5 days ago. I did not lose much weight as i had hoped with the RNY despite exercise and diet. It took much contemplation throughout the years but i did my research, and went for it. I'm here in NY so i would recommend Dr. Roslin if you're not far. Good luck and do what feels right to you!
Hi, I'm in New York and got my RNY to DS revision from Dr. Roslin. He does have an office at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. I'm 5 days out and so far so good ð?'?
I'm glad your GERD is more controllable now!
I do not have a dilated esophagus, according to several tests conducted by my surgeon. We'll see what happens with my GERD after revision... A Nissen fundoplication would not be applicable here, at all. There is not enough stomach to perform such a procedure. I do not have a hiatal hernia. Thank you for all your suggestions!
You are perfectly correct, my dear... and I have considered everything under the sun, including the LINX procedure at USC -- not applicable for my case as a VSG patient, either.
Oh my goodness! That sounds overwhelming just reading it, I can't imagine how you managed it all. I had my EDG 2 weeks ago. The results showed chronic gastritis, no Barrett's or hernia. My hernia was repaired when my band was placed. The surgeon said that even without any fluid in my band that it seems tight to him. I'm not really sure what will happen next. My follow up with him is next week and we'll see where I go from here.
So here is my update. Looks like my pouch and stoma did indeed stretch after my pregnancy :(. My insurance has accepted everything and my schedule is set for July 15. I have stared my pre-surgical pre-liquid diet at 3 weeks out. The procedure will be a reduction in my Stoma and pouch. I am excited and so ready.
