Topic: RE: Lapband revision to bypass

Hi and thank you! I am now 6 months post op and am amazed and thrilled. I am down 54 pounds and am eating. I eat whatever I want but am watchful. I'm thrilled with the progress and look forward to continued losses.

Topic: Revision of original DS Surgery

I am a long-term veteran of bariatric surgery. I had a full DS surgery in 2002. It worked wonderfully for many many years. For about 12 years I didn't vary more than three or four pounds and I was at a very acceptable weight. Then at the end of about 12 years the surgery started to fail or at least to work less effectively. I lost about 100 lb originally. Well yesterday I was 50 lb more than I was at my low after the DS surgery. So I would like to get a revision. For medical reasons too long to set out, I cannot get a resleeve. That leaves as a revision a shortening of the common channel. This would hopefully "renew" my malabsorption and get weight loss going.

However, it will also renew the possibility of metabolic problems, and bring on more loose and smelly stools.

My big fear is that weight loss would be poor. They warn us a 2nd surgery is not like the first. Has anyone had a ds revision like this? Can you describe your results? Any other thoughts?

Topic: RE: Has anyone else had a lap-band revision to an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty?

Sort of. I had emergency surgery to remove my band and fix the hole it had made in my stomach. My surgeon called it "a modified sleeve". It was larger than other sleeves but gave me some restriction. I lost 80 pounds and kept it off for 10 years but had to work hard at it. The second I got pregnant and didn't diet I went back to my pre-surgery weight and have stayed there.

I had a band too but didn't have the success you did. My band was placed nov 2008 but was removed 5 months later and I almost died in the process.

It seems crazy that you're gaining weight and only having that amount of calories but I know sometimes things fluctuate. Try not to get discouraged or worry about it yet.

Topic: RE: Had my Apollo Overstitch revision.....

I am planning to have the Overstitch procedure @ TLC w/Yu. Can you share some more details about how you are doing, were you in pain long, what is your total loss, how long did it take for you to return to work? I am a little skittish but must turn things back around after sleeve.

Hi I hope you are well & enjoying overstitch. I was wondering if you could share your physician's information as I am interested in the over stitch procedure. I am in Sugar Land & have only found TLC Surgery. I have great INS as well and would like to revise my sleeve.

My Insurance won't cover it . Even if it's medically necessary. I am so upset . My doctor said he would write a letter but his assistant said they won't cover even if he writes a letter because it's excluded from my benefits.
