I'd love to have a diet buddy!! I made a promise to myself that on Jan 1st I am going to back to the Pre-Op Liquid Diet for 2 weeks, then follow the 6 week Post Op Diet as though I'm fresh out of surgery. This should take 12 weeks and my hope is that this will help me get back on track, kick my cravings and help me control portion sizes. I absolutely refuse to continue feeling like a fat, miserable, embarrased and disappointing failure come summer 2020!
I am in the same boat... got sleeved in 2012... never made it to onederland but lost lots of weight! Now here i am even heavier than i was in 2012.. the heaviest of my life! I do have GERD. I tried to get a revision but insurance will not pay. Now I am going to Mexico and now researching my options. There is a way that you can get a revision when a bypass has been done. I'm not sure what it consists of. but lets be each other's encouragement. I too miss the feeling of restriction. No we aren't perfect. But it helps that I am not the onlly one out here with the same issues. I have an appt with a therapist and I am going to work even harder this time. Its hard. Hopefully you wont get super negative comments on here... some people on here have negative things to say, as if they are perfect. It can be very discouraging. But I am here for your support.
Mexicali has still not given me any follow up about my inquiry almost 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard back at all!!! And what makes them the best option? Just asking... it concerns me that they havent emailed or called at all... would it be that way throughout the entire process?
Read hollykim's post above. If you're considering Mexico, the best option is Mexicali Bariatric Center.
Thanks in advance!
Laura
I am doing the same and Mexico makes me nervous so if you hear some really good feedback, please share. ?
I have been doing research with Pompeii as well. I have been in contact with several and they seem to be doing pretty well
I have looked into and spoke with Pompeii.... Any other hospitals or centers in Mexico that anyone would recommend?
I have had 3 surgeries plus a huge amount of reconstruction.
after using three different wls groups the only one I now recommend is Mexicali Bariatrics.
I would not use Dr Pompa as she is known to make hours glass shaped sleeves and that leAds to problems down the road.
There are very few surgeons in the US capable of doing successful RNY revisions so if you are really serious about one, you may need to travel out-of-state for surgery. I recommend you contact Dr Ara Keshishian in Pasadena, CA (suburb of Los Angeles) for a virtual consult to hear what he has to say about your situation. Even if you do not go with him, he can provide great info to aid in your decision making. Deciding to have revisional surgery is a big deal so it is imperative you choose a procedure and surgeon that will actually address your weight loss/anatomy issues for the long term. I had complicated abdominal surgery with Dr K in 2018 and could not be happier with my care and follow up. I was an out-of-state patient too.
I would only go with Mexicali Bariatric Center for VSG to RNY or VSG to DS (or virgin WLS). I wish I had my gastric bypass with them in 2017 instead of a doctor in Tijuana.
