Hi
May I suggest to review about MGB( mini gastric bypass).
I must go thru a revision from VSG and considering MGB, the main reason is that I regained most of the weight lost in the VSG and MGB it is not as drastic as the RNY.
Just an idea, check on MGB too.
Regards
Pedro
Hi, The revision would be MGB to gastroplasty
( sleeve that is already there). I'm wanting to remove the bypass due to ulcers, possible SIBO and terrible malabsorption. Looking for others who may have these problems. No h pylori/ was tested.
What antibiotics help SIBO, are the dude effects bad?
Be careful with your expectations as revision from MGB to RNY may not resolve your ulcer issues. I've been reading that the rate of ulcers for MGB and RNY patients is equivalent.
The best way to prevent/heal peptic ulcers are to:
- Get tested for H. Pylori bacteria
- Avoid NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen)
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid alcohol
- Avoid/limit carbonated beverages
- Avoid/limit coffee
- Avoid/limit caffeine
- Steroids may lead to ulcers, as well as medications to treat osteoporosis
Thanks yeah I'm starving, I meet with the surgeon today and it wasn't what I expected, he said this surgery is harder on my body. Like WTF
Original surgery VSG Feb. 2016
Revised to RNY April 2018.
Height: 5'6"
Start weight: 317. Current weight: 240
No pouch pain. Been scoped 4 times. Had ct scans. Barium swallow. Its anything i consume. Even water is uncomfortable but anything thicker is painful. Dr is considering going back in and looking at intestines and possibly shortening them.
I would definitely ask for an open, abdominal exploratory surgery,to look at the pouch, intestines, remnant stomach and everything else in there.
There has to be something the scopes are missing.
I wish you luck in finding out the problem and getting it corrected.
I had VSG in 2012, my revision was done on 2/26/18. I am happy to say my reflux is completely gone. I had some complications post op, but all in all I do not regret my decision at all. Oh and those 2 weeks of that liquid diet was worse this time, I was hungry all the time. You are almost there !!!
Good luck
I had a revision from VSG to RNY because of severe GERD. My surgery was done on 2/26/18. I did have some complications. It was a whole domino effect. I was in severe pain causing my blood pressure to rise. The rise in blood pressure caused me not to clot properly so I had some staple line bleeding. My surgeon went back in 2 days later and the bleeding already had stopped. I did have to get a transfusion after the second surgery. I stayed in the hospital for a total of 5 days. However as of today (4/6/18) my GERD has been resolved, and you would never know I had those stumbling blocks in the beginning.
I didn't share to scare you, but I just wanted you to know my experience. It was a big decision but I don't regret it at all.
Nothing. Powerade zero or G2.

do you have pouch pain any other time?
Have you been scoped or had any testing? Could be ulcers.
