Topic: RE: Question on success after lap band removal

Getting a lap band was the most stupidest thing I have ever done. It didn't work. They sell you false hope.

The side affects 10 years latter were unreal. I couldn't burp, horrible pain in my upper left side of my chest and collar bone area. Excessive gas. None of it was ever worth it.

I finally had mine removed two months ago all the symptoms subsided.

I still have excessive gas for some reason. And some abdominal pain. I don't know if this is normal till my boss's just to have the lap band removed. I would not recommend to anyone. The biggest waste of money you could spend. They basically left you off because it doesn't work. That is why they don't put them in anymore.

Topic: RE: 18 years after my RNY

I did go through with the revision. It was done on September 12, and since then I have lost a total of 72 lbs. My kidney functions improved after the surgery so it bought me sometime before undergoing a transplant. I did lost enough weight to qualify for the transplant but I want to lose more weight. Thank you for reaching out.

I am so sorry you are being tested like this.

huge hugs, Lisa

Topic: Re-sleeved super tight can't get liquids down

I was originally sleeved 2011. I got to my goal weight and rocked my sleeve for 12 years. My weight started creeping back and decided to get re-sleeved 11/3/23. No leak, just super tight but I thought I will baby my new sleeve and rock it for next decade. I'm 14 days out and can't hardly get any water down, forget about the protein drinks, it curdle up and i was puking for hours to get the curled milk out. Om still on clear liquid, I had IV treatment 4 times this week. Has this ever happened to anyone? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I'm waiting for an appointment to get dilation with an endoscopy.

Topic: RE: Dumping syndrome/Reactive hypoglycaemia

I was told I probably have it after every other potential cause was ruled out (my glucose level was normal at the time I had the work-up, so that wasn't suspected at first). My PCP recommended I eat something every 3-4 hours - a protein was the best option - and if I ate a carb, to be sure to pair it with a protein. It seems to have solved the problem - although your case might be more severe than mine.

Good morning,

You may want to ask this in the RNY forum. It's the most active board and I know some of the folks there do experience RH, unfortunately. They may be able to weigh in with feedback.

Best wishes.

Topic: Dumping syndrome/Reactive hypoglycaemia

I've just been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycaemia and am trying to get a hold of the condition via diet. What i'd like to know is how many members have this condition post rny surgery and how they deal/cope with the condition. Mine tends to be severe and the symptoms are very hard to control.

If anyone is willing to share their experiences and how they have been coping i would greatly appreciate it.

Topic: RE: Anybody in Virginia researching revision surgery?

I had revision from VSG to Gastric Bypass. It wasn't because of weight gain. I had a hiatal hernia that was causing severe reflux. Even after the hiatal hernia was repaired, I was still having severe reflux. My surgeon did more tests and when he got the results and I met with him, he said the only option to stop the reflux was to revise the VSG to gastric bypass. So I had the revision surgery on 6/23/2021. Gastric bypass was the surgery I originally wanted but I wasn't a candidate for it at the time
