I hate to sound ungreatful, but I had the lapband on feb 15, I have only lost 35 lbs. Some peole may say that is good but I really wanted better results. Do you think I can get the gastric bypass? has anyone had this problem with wanting to get another surgery. Any advice. Sometimes I still feel my self overeatting even when it hurts. Is this normal to want the gastric bypass after the lapband.

Hi.. I had the lapband Aug 05 and I am now almost 4 weeks post op RNY. My band slipped.. I was never happy with it.. I needed to get the weight off and my insurance offered lapband no RNY.. so in Feb I was faced with only a 30 pound weight loss.. arrggg... I tried although not wholeheartdly to work with the lapband.. but it didnt work for ME... my new insurance UHC.. is awesome.. they apporoved and paid for the RNY.. and my doctor was great and experienced with revisions.. I hope this helps.. you can get a revision if you choose to .. honestly I wish I would have found this board before I got the lapband.. I would have just waited for open enrollment and changed to UHC.. Heidi

Hi Heidi, I seem to have the same problems with my band and the lack of weight loss. I also have UHC, what did it take to get them to approve another WLS? deborah

"Some peole may say that is good but I really wanted better results." If you wanted to lose more than 10 pounds a month, why did you get the band? Surely you did your homework and your surgeon TOLD you that they HOPE that patients can lose 1-2 pounds per week...right? I hope before you do ANYTHING else, you read and read and read and understand the pros and cons of each surgery...AND, more importantly, that you know what you really want. Good luck!
