Ring after RNY? Hi, I'm looking for someone (and I think I read where some have) asked a physician to place a ring on their stoma after receiving an RNY. The silicone ring on the stoma is used as an additional aid to control portions. If you know of a doctor who will place a silicone ring on the stoma AFTER an rny has been performed... please let me know. Tooter suggested I post here... and I believe her.

It may depend on the surgeon. The surgeon I had try to put in on after my original rny was unsucessful - he said there wasnt enough room. So if you don't get it at the time of your original surgery; it may not be possible. It is possible to have the lapband put on and it does basicallythe same thing; but you need medical necessity. In my case I had a non functional stoma and this was a partial fix. If your stoma is working - you may be hard pressed to get a surgeon to put in on or get insurance to cover it.
