Kinda Worried

I am having a revision from my sleeve to bypass and I am so afraid this time around. And this 2 week liquid diet is killing me, I just wanted to talk to others who have done this and are enjoying their results. I have had nothing but issues since my sleeve surgery and the revision is because of severe reflux issues. Just scared and hungry.

I had a terrible VBG surgery in 1986. I lived with GERD for 25 years before I finally found a surgeon that would help me. I revised to RNY (gastric bypass) in 2010 and woke up GERD free (pain free) from surgery. RNY cured my reflux immediately.

Just don't let this second chance go by without becoming a strict rule follower. The surgery works only if you work the surgery. Any WLS can be eaten around and, if you regain significant weight, the reflux will return. I have been below my goal weight for almost 8 years. I follow the WLS rules to the letter.

Don't be scared. It's totally worth it.

Good luck!

I am just 3 weeks out from my revision to bypass due to reflux. I had reflux so bad that no matter how many stomach meds I took, it just got worse. I woke up from the revision surgery and it was gone! The liquid diet is tough but it is so worth it in the end to not have the reflux burning my esophagus. My recovery has been ok. I had a lot of gas that was hurting my shoulders. I actually found a massaging heating pad on amazon and that really helped work some of it out along with walking.

Hi Leslie,

Did you have to have a drainage tube? And I'm glad to hear you are doing well.

Yes I did have one. My surgeon actually sent me home with it and removed it at my one week follow up. It's wasnt bad to deal with, just annoying. I don't think all surgeons do this, it just depends.

That sounds terrible. I had one with my VSG but it wasn't draining much so they took it out the next day.

I had VSG in 2012, my revision was done on 2/26/18. I am happy to say my reflux is completely gone. I had some complications post op, but all in all I do not regret my decision at all. Oh and those 2 weeks of that liquid diet was worse this time, I was hungry all the time. You are almost there !!!

Good luck

My surgeon said the same. He said because I had a hernia and scar tissue it could be more difficult.

Best of luck to you
