Hello, just a quick question. I thought that if you went back on liquids for a few weeks you would be able to shrink your stoma? I understand what you have gone through as I have gained 35 lbs back. I know it may not sound like much but I can feel it and it is taking a toll on my body and psyche. I am really trying to figure out which surgery to follow up with. It is so confusing.

Unfortunatly the stoma is made up of scar tissue so it does not shrink back I wi**** was that easy.

Hello....I was sleeved in 10/2011. Just about 6 years ago. Did very well with the weight loss. I was 250lbs. and my lowest weight was 146lbs. I gained about 50lbs. due to severe GERD and stricture. My surgeon recommends going to RNY. My concern is what is recovery like and mostly will I lose the weight I regained and possibly get to my goal weight f 130-135lbs. I have been told by a few that revision surgeries takes longer to lose the weight and you don't lose as much due to your body went thru the process prior.

Can anyone share their experiences with revision fron VSG to RNY please? Thank you

Hi I have a question for you. I had the lap band and am now trying to figure out which surgery to have since my lap band isn't working any longer. thinking the RNY??? But still researching what to expect after the surgery. questions about dumping and lastly, it was so easy to lose weight with the band. I was thinking it would be just as easy for me to lose with the RNY?

Hi Julie,

Thats a tough question. I liked the sleeve. I didn't like the reflux from the sleeve which got worse over 9 years. If there was a way to fix my sleeve and get rid of reflux, I would have gotten resleeved. That being said, the only way to get rid of the reflux was the RNY. That is why I revised. I am too early with my RNY to tell you definitively if this was a good decision for me. But I have lost 30 pounds since mid July so that is good and my reflux is gone.

Thank you for answering so quickly. I just got off the phone with a company that I am thinking of having the surgery done through. The believe they told me that they are not recommending the VSG any longer and one of the reasons is the reflux. They also said the RNY was a good choice (which I am considering) or a mini bypass. Congratulations on your weight loss!!! And no more reflux I KNOW how bad that can be. I am assuming you are off liquids? How are your eating habits? Any problems with certain foods? Thank you again.

Hi again,

I don't have problems eating any type of food, its the after effects. I am lactose intolerant, have problems with sugar alcohols, can't have too much fat because of stomach problems. Its trial and error on the foods. I post my menu every day on the RNY board so you should go there and see what a day to day meal plan looks like for the successful folks.

OK here I go I am 5 years in 10 months out from my VSG, Now I'm thinking about getting a revision done started talking to my surgeon again and now about to go though the steps. Let me start off by saying my HW 196 the day of surgery 190, in my lowest weight was 135. About second years up until the beginning of this year I stayed at 145-150. So January 26th I had and a tummy tuck done. All everything was OK for a least 2 weeks but then the an unthinkable happen my mother had a stroke. With that I did not recover fully, I was so stressed out and I didn't get enough rest or eat right I gained weight instead of losing weight. All together again about 45 pounds to 50 pounds since surgery Dec 2011. My medical doctors suggest I go back to my surgeon to see if I can get a revision done, which I thought was impossible. I had to do the 2 hour class all over again but once I seen the doctor she explain to me because I was getting the revision I only had to do the sleep study and the upper GI and one nutrition is visit. So with this said I will probaby getting it done before the year is out . The only thing I'm nervous about is I have a different insurance company then I did when I had my 1st VSG.
