Had my Apollo Overstitch revision.....

Hi there,

No worries that's what we are here for to get answers an support from each other.

  1. My surgeon was very supportive of my coming forward and recommended a physician that specialized in doing the Apollo revision surgery because he didn't do it.
  2. The specialist was the only one at the Brigham and women's Hospital that did it so there was a wait to get an initial appointment with him it was like 3 to 6 months,  by the grave of God, I got in ,iin two weeks because there was a cancellation.
  3. After seeing the specialist  and getting all the tests done, blood work and upper endoscopy to see if my stomach and pouch had dilated it was determined that I indeed had stretched out my stomach and pouch and he said I was a great candidate for this type of revision.
  4. He then said that there was a long wait list to get in to have the actual revision, in upwards of 6 most to 1 year.
  5. I asked for the icd and procedure codes and called my insurance to see if this was covered in full , it was!!
  6. I was a bit persistent and called the surgeons scheduler weekly to see if anyone cancelled, and to see where I was on the list.
  7. One day I called and she said yes we have an opening but it the day before Thanksgiving, I took it!!!
  8. The surgery went ok, some pain and vomiting after, spent 1 day in the hospital and have the most ridiculous restriction, I've lost 23 pounds thus far.
  9. The only thing that bites is you have to he on liquids for 45 days after!!
  10. I get to actually eat soft/pureed foods next week!

This was a HUGE help!!! Really! Thank you. 45 days, Omg. I have literally been hiding from my surgeon out of shame....even though he repaired most of my hernias. However, I can't keep going through these problems. Thanks again!

Did you have your revision? I just move to the Santa Fe Texas area and was wondering what doctor you see and if you had the overstitch would you recommend it?

I hope that you are no longer in pain. How are you feeling today? I'm having my revision on 3/15/17. I've gained almost 90 lbs from my original RNY. I'm so depressed because of it and I really hope to lose alll that I've gained.
