weight gain after gastric bypass
You have to ask yourself first why you gained. If it was because you went off plan and stopped using your tool then it's time to get back on track.
I know of someone who had the Apollo overstitch done and she regrets it big time. Never lost weight ended up gaining more due to not being able to eat dense protein. and eating only slider foods.
I had mine in 2005 went from 322 to 170 and gained 50lbs back over the last few years. I just had a revision on the 13th two weeks out today
after an endoscopy showed my pouch had stretched out I had the Gastric Bypass again with a smaller pouch 2oz doing ok just started on pureed foods today hope this helps your not alone.
I had RNY in Nov 2007. I gained 50 lbs back by 2010. Then I lost 25 just staying busy. If I don't use my pouch how it is meant to be used I will gain.
Bad habits are bad habits. My pouch can hold probably 3 cups of food now. It is totally my fault. I am back down to 185 but it's because I eat low carb and avoid sugar. I'm working on getting back to 163 or lower. The struggle is real.
DO NOT FEEL GUILTY for talking to your doctor about your regain. But take a look at how much you can eat and find out how much you have stretched the pouch. I know I can not eat as much as I did before WLS, but I'm still able to eat too much. I still occasionally dump which says the pouch still works.
Give low carb a try. Its the only thing that has helped me. The first two weeks are rough for cravings but then you get more energy and it just seems to work. Don't over do the veges, and sweeteners because even if they say low carb, the trace carbs do add up and can slow the weight loss.
Thankfully I am a big meat eater and giving up bread isn't hard. It is giving up sugar that is difficult for me. Sugar is the reason I failed. Sugar and portion control. :(
This is a fantastic answer. I think you'll continue doing a great job.
