how long were people off work for from revision from lap band to bypass?
I am still off, I had my surgery on 9/10/15 (removal of eroded lap band and port, RNY, hernia repair; then he had to go back and reinforce my pouch that developed a leak from the damage the band did to my stomach). I am a bit older, 58 years, so I am not bouncing back as fast as I did when I was young. My surgeon wants me off 8 weeks and then only return to light duty.
I took the full eight weeks....it was summer and I could do it so I figured why not! But....I felt decent in about two weeks. I have a desk job and may have been able to pull it off if I had to. You get very tired easily. I found that it was more so the emotional factor that was tough. Getting in protein, water, vitamins, etc is hard but once I went back to work full time it was very hard. I work a lot of hours too. I guess every situation is different but I felt ok after two or three weeks. Best of luck to you!

If you have a desk job, you should be able to go back to work quickly. I had my revision on 8/18 and went back to work the next Monday. I've been walking and exercising since I came home and have been doing very well. The only restriction I had was not lifting heavy things. Good luck. You will do great and have a totally different experience with the bypass.

I took a month. I think I could have managed to go back sooner, but I have a very active job and it seemed like as long as short term disability was willing to pay for the time off, I was going to take it!
My surgeon said 4-6 weeks, so I'm putting in for short term disability leave of 6 weeks and will adjust as needed. I'm a teacher so I wish I could have done this over the summer, but...My job is physical and very scheduled, so I really need to be pretty well recovered. Good luck to you!
