Lap Band 2005' - Gastric Sleeve 2010' - RNY 2013' Hopefully the 3rd time is the CHARM
Looking to hear from anyone out there that has had 3 weight loss surgeries. Curious to know how long it took you to feel somewhat normal again and how much time do you suggest taking off from work with the RNY. I have a desk job but would like to have a realistic idea of how long I should expect to be off work. I have so many thoughts going through my mind and am both excited and scared at the same time. I have made this choice as a last effort to try to live a full life. Lastly, are you happy with your decision to have your last surgery?
Lapband 2004, Sleeve 2010 and RNY 10/21/2013. It's tougher than the other 2 but I had some big issues with my stomach, totally disfigured, and not like a banana sleeve tummy any more. Severe reflux prior to surgery. I had it at Plano Presby and was in the hospital 4 days and the 4th night asked if I could just go ahead and go home... I loved the sleeve and wasn't thrilled about having RNY but we do what we have to do for our health.
What Dr are you going to? Make sure it is someone with a lot of revision experience and preferably 2nd revision experience.
Good luck - we are among the few that have had all 3.
Hi,
Have you looked into revising to DS. You are half way there. I revised from RNY to DS. RNY did not work for me. It does work for some but it looks like the failure rate is increasing. Consider all of your options before having another revision.
Good luck whatever your decision.

Did you have the revision to RNY because your reflux was severe? I had the sleeve 2007 and I have severe reflux and am considering having a revision to the RNY. They say that the RNY almost immediately cures the reflux. Do you find this to be true and are you happy with the RNY? Thanks for your reply. Cindy from Florida.
I am in the same boat with you. I had a LB in 2008 only lost 4 lbs. in 2009 had the VSG lost about 17 lbs. and suffered with a hiatal hernia which caused major acid reflux. I am waiting for my insurance company to approve me for getting the RNY. I was told there was a study done on patients who had a VSG, those who had this surgery and did not have a craving for sweets before the surgery developed a sweet tooth after the surgery and gained back there weight. That's me! Anyway this will be my third surgery too, if BCBS OK Federal Employees approve me. Best wishes to you!!!
