Hubby & I APPROVED and had surgery dates..... until.....

Got the call today that my hubby & I were approved (him for sleeve and me for band -> sleeve revision) for surgery and we scheduled surgery dates!!  Then I thought to call and get the total cost due before surgery and my hubby's insurance only pays 50%!!  OMG!!  I have to save another $1600!!  This SUX!!!!

I had to pay a $4,000. Program fee directly to the Dr. $2,000 travel expenses, $1,000 pet care and $3,000 max out of pocket.  

$10K for revision from RNY to DS revision.

Congrats guys....I have 2500 to come out of pocket......if i went with a non blue facility, then I would have only %50 coverage...thank God i have a few near me so that I'm covered %90

I'm so sorry but at least you have the OK that's the hard part. Can you borrow or put it on a credit card? There are places like Care Credit where you can borrow, it's kinda expensive but at least it would get things back on track. Hang in there you'll both make it yet!!!

Congratulations on being approved!  My insurance didn't cover it at all.  What I did was get a zero percent interest credit card and put the surgery on that.  I paying it down little by little.  I figure at the end of the year I take up one of those zero percent balance transfers before the interest goes up.  Maybe that would work for you and your hubby?
