SLEEVE SCHEDULED FOR 02/27/2013

banded 07/22/2010, port replaced 04/2011, band removed 11/29/2012

I lost 120+ pounds but could not get more off due to acid reflux when band got tight enough to lose.

Still had BMI of 35 so insurance approved revision.

Band removed 11/29/2012 and I did well initially even lost a couple of pounds.

Than my mother passed unexpectedly 12/08/2012, about a week after that it is like the flood gates opened and I am insatiable.  That being said I am up about 20 pounds.  Could be worse.

My sleeve is no schedule for 02/27/2013 ... i am really excited yet oddly more apprehensive than any other time before.

Anxious to work this new tool and get some more of this weight off.  :-)

I was banded 2/25/09 and had the band removed 9/4/12.  I was sleeved 1/22/13.  I to did well initially and lost a couple pounds as I could eat dense protein again.  Then I went on a 3 week cruise came home to Christmas and New years and ended up almost thirty pounds.   I am now three week out and within 1/2 pounds of my lowest with the band.

My insurance had a once in a lifetime WLS policy so I had to fight to get the sleeve.  I had to have the band removed before I could start the fight for the sleeve and had to go thru everything like I never had one.  My BMI had dipped below 35 so had to add a few pounds for my medical data collection with the PCP and initial consult with the surgeon.

So far the sleeve is working 100X better than the band.  My DD has had hers two years and one sister for one year.  Both doing great and 100% better than I did with the band.

I have a Michigan HMO.

Congrats on the revision I'm sure after the initial surgery you will like it very much. Sorry for your loss that always throws everything into chaos. Hopefully things will be better in the future.

How did your surgery go!

Thanks for checking. My surgeon had a tough time of it. I was in surgery over 4 hours. When she went to but bougie down she couldn't get it through. I had an excessive amount of scar tissue in my esophagus. She had to stretch it and then used an endoscope as a bougie instead. She normally uses a 36 and she says this made it smaller. She could very well have stopped and made me wait another 3 to 6 months to let the scar tissue settle down but she preserved and got me through. I am so greatful for her skill and perseverance :). I am feeling good but anxious for 2nd week of fluids to pass quickly. It is harder this time :). I can't stand the protein shakes this time either so any ideas helpful :). How is yours going?

I'm six weeks out and am down to my band lowest.  I am glad that I had the 4.5 months to heal before getting sleeved.  I remember right after getting the band out I was tighter than some of the time I had the band.  I know for 2 months I had days I felt the band was still in.  Even after waiting for all to heal, he spent 45 minutes fixing the mess from the band.

So glad all went well for you.  Is she going to keep an eye on you to make sure the area she had to stretch out doesn't become a stricture?  I know that is one of the issues that others that have that happen to them had happen.  Just make sure if you ever tighten and can't sip like having the band to tight you get right back to her.

Just wondering what was your bmi/EWL at when you had surgery.  Just looking to compair.

I didn't think to ask her if there could be any ongoing issues. Will ask her at my 3 week appt. I will let them know if I have issues for sure.  After my band I went in every 4 to 6 weeks so they are good about after care. I had gone back up to 235 on the day of surgery. My lowest had been 203 for about a day lol. I had been steady at about 214. I can't wait to get down to that again. My pants were getting too tight. I am thinking I am down 12 already.  I am 5'6" haven't plugged it in to see what my BMI was. I know I had to bounce back up to 35 to get ins to approve I was a good 10 lbs over that 

We are really close than.  I was 5'6 but it looks like I might have lost a little since menopause.  I got down to about 205 with the band, 198 for a couple days with the band.  I went back up to 260, 3 pounds higher than the day I was banded.  Went on Atkins last January when they were unfilling the band as it would get tighter and was able to get back down to that 203/5 while going thru the 6 month supervised diet for the revision.  I had to be 35 to get insurance to approve to and was at 32 with the diet.  Can we say I really slouched to come in at 5' 4.75" and had very, very heavy cloths that day

Sounds like we are starting out about the same will love to follow how you do.  Have you joined the band to sleeve group?
