why is everything so hard????

as i posted a few weeks ago i am looking into revision surgery. i have gained all but 20 lbs back,not to mention  i only lost 69 lbs.. i been post op for 4.5 years now... i am looking into revision to a gastric sleeve or ds.. i am not to sure.. i wanna see the surgeon to see what he thinks i would bennifit from. my doctor told me it would be in my best interest to have revision. i recently moved from massachusetts to connecticut. and my orginal surgeon is just a jerk! so the new surgeon's office wants my records and an upper gi done before they even make an appointment. thats fine, my new pcp requested my records and that will take a up to 30 days. but the my new pcp wants the new surgeon to fax what they want done( upper gi) so she orders the right test, i called them and told them that, they said no problem and now 2 weeks later the fax hasnt been sent and i still not got anything accomplished.. i am a wee bit frustrated, i do know good things come to those who are patient.. just easier said than done at this point. anyone else feel like they keep getting knocked down when trying?

I hope you are looking into an experienced surgeon,  This is the most recent list of RNY to VSG/DS surgeons that are routinely supported by this DS community.  You should really only consider these surgeons:

Dr. Keshishian, located in California

Dr. Rabkin, located in California

Dr. Stewart, located in Texas

Dr. Simper, located in Utah

Dr. Elariny, located in Virginia

Dr. Roslin, located in New York

Dr. Buchwald, located in Minnesota

Of course, the above doctors are in the United States 


Dr. Baltasar, located in Spain

Dr. Marchesini, located  in Brazil

Dr. Gagner in Canada and Dr. Greenbaum are also experienced surgeons, but please use caution, and RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to also add that the intestinal configuration is ALOT different!!!!  After 18 months the mal-absorption part of the RNY 'goes away'.  And the mal-absorption part of the DS never does.

I disagree  - I am 10 yrs out RNY and still have some malabsorption

How do you know? Not being snarky, just curious. And yes, RNYers will always malabsorb some fat, but what about protein and complex carbs? Did you have some sort of testing done?

7 years out and still dealing with mal absorbtion issues... Iron, Vit D, etc and I take supplements!

I apologize, landrycm.  Let me clairify my above statement by saying that the VITAMIN portion of the RNY mal-absorption NEVER EVER goes away.  As a former RNYer.... just 2 months shy of 10 years, and revised to a DS, my mal-absorption of vitamins NEVER went away.
