I had RNY in 2005 I did great lost 100 lbs. Was only thought I would loose 70 since I am tall and big boned and not 100 over weight. That was a very happy time in my life. Now I have gained theweight about 70 of it back. I can't find anyone to do a revision. I have no excuses except for physical ones.; Back injury two bad knees and hip replacement. I can't exercise due the the weight I have gained and it is killing my hip and I can't loose the weight because I can't exercise. It is a doubled edged sword. Anyone have any advice for me. I need to get this weight off. My life is almost over in early 50's. I can't walk any period at a time my joints are so weak. I am at the end of my rope thining my life is over and next step which is very soon is a scooter if I don't get the weight off. Please help me.

I know exactly how you feel, I made the horrid mistake of getting a band(what a joke)but I can't exercise much either. I have found that I can ride a recumbent exercise bike without too much pain. At least it takes the pressure off my knees and hips. You can start slow and easy and work at your own pace,it also helps keep you more limber. Often you can find them cheap in the news paper or on line. Otherwise try just following the original diet and journal your food. I wish you luck but know you aren't alone.

can't you get a revision because of your hips and knees.  i am going to my Dr on the 10th as my hip is so bad and at times I just drop.  The band hasn't worked for me so I will see if I have any options.  I have kaiser so we shall see!

Are you a candidate for the rose procedure?  I hear it is great for RnY patients to return stomach pouch to original surery size.  In regards to exercise, with you physical complications you should get clearance for water aerobics it is a wonder low impact workout.
Good Luck!

All the reading and advice I have gotten the rose procedure doesen't seem to be a good choice. I have appt. next tues and I  know he will suggest the band. It is hard to get another dr to touch you after another has done the RNY. I am hoping ins. will pay either way. I have BCBS and Medicare. BCBS paid the first time didn't have medicare then. I know if I don't do something to get the weight off that I wil be in wheel chair within a year. My hip replacement just isn't feeling well at all. pain all the time. I know it is my weight. Seems that no matter what I do I can't loose weight just like the first time. I need revision and I am not taking advantage of this one. I know better now that the RNY wasn't a miracle cure and that I have to continue to work with it. I felt great with the weight loss and horrible now. I will update on dr visit. Thanks for caring.
