Has anyone revised from the Lap Band to the VSG? If so how is your progress going?

I haven't been able to revise (wish I could) but I've seen lots of exbandsters post on the VSG board that they've had wonderful success. Try reading their forum for awhile and they will pop up. I would guess that nearly 100% of them are thrilled with their revision. That's what I would get if I could.

I will be getting the Sleeve on Oct 3rd.  Had my band out on July 2nd and could not do the revision at that time due to scar tissue.  Can  hardly wait.

I'll keep in touch.

I am having my band out and revising to the sleeve on September 20th. I'm scared but excited!

With you moving from one to the other, does it matter what your weight is?  I've had the lapband done 4 years ago and got down to 180, and here I sit.  I was hoping to have a revision done (as I am now having trouble with no restriction (even though I'm 100% filled in the band), and my port hurts me.  I'm just not sure doctors do revisions if you are below the BMI?

My goal weight was 150#. I got down to 151# mostly because of puking and starving when I was unable to eat anything with the band. Then when my band is loosened a little, I can eat a horse. I have since gained about 15-20# back. Right now I'm sitting at about 169#. I'm 5'6". My doctor said my bmi didn't matter. He was recommending the revision to the sleeve in order for me to maintain my weight loss (maybe loose a couple of more pounds). My insurance approved the revision in less than 2 weeks with no question.
Good luck to you. Your bmi shouldn't matter.

Just out of curiousity - who is your insurance provider?!  I had my band removed due to complications about a year ago and am looking into having the VSG, but am getting some push back from my insurance because my BMI is no longer above 40.

Thanks!  Good luck with everything :-)

I have Security Health. They approved me in about 1 1/2 weeks with no questions. I don't even have to fulfill any requirements. The only thing I have to do is not eat after midnight tonight.
Good luck to you.

Speaking from only my experience, it was a failure for me.  Got down to 140 with band, up to 180 when band was empty after slippage.  I've had VSG for 2 years now, and am back to 180.  Lowest I got was 155.  Whish I had gotten something different or even another band.  I don't have restriction with this sleeve.
