Good afternoon!! Just would like to know if anyone had the ROSE Procedure for their revision? My doctor is considering me having it down. I had a baby boy April of 2009 and only had 25 pounds to loss after have him. Since then I gain additional 50 pounds totaling 75Ibs. It’s been a rocky last two years and trying to put my life back in order.

I have so many questions as if you feel the surgery was a success for you?

Did your insurance cover it?

And was your weight loss at a minimal or came off rapidly?

Any other information you can offer I will appreciate.

Thanks, Charmaine

It doesn't work. Stay far, far away. ROSE and Stomaphyx aren't covered by insurance. Over the past few years, people have come on here, they have posted that they got it, they've lost 20-25 lbs on the liquid diet, and then they regained everything and then some.

Everyone thinks that RNY people regain because of pouch stretching, but that's not the case. Most of it is because the malabsorption goes away. After 2 years, the body becomes even more efficient at holding onto weight and all it can get from food.

I just visited my surgeon today for a 100lb regain over the past 4 years.  I was hoping that Band ove Bypass would be the route he would take.  Unfortunatley he said I was not a candidate...however he has had a good success with other patients in my similar situation, by reversing R-N-Y completely and perfoming a Sleeve.  I am going to persue this...lets hope insurance will approve!!!

I am curious why he said you weren't a candidate for the band over bypass?

Thanks ladies. My surgeon feel that Lap Band is not good nor the DS. I so lost right now. my pouch is still the size of a lemon he told me when he did the scope, its the open that stregth out. I see him next month and really sit down with him and over my long term options.

Your surgeon probably doesn't think the DS is a good idea because he doesn't do it. There aren't that many DS surgeons as compared to RNY or lap-band surgeons, and revision surgeons are far & few between. If you can consult with a real, vetted, DS surgeon who does revisions, he or she can tell you if it would be appropriate for you.
