Revision from VSG to RNY feedback please

I originally had a RNY. It worked for about 6-7 years, then gradually I started fighting the weight again and my diabetes and hypertension came back and worsened.

The Stomaphyx is a procedure where the stomach is basically tightened up through your mouth....it doesn't work.

You will get the best advice from a surgeon who does all 4 procedures. A surgeon who only does a couple, will kind of be biased towards the procedures that they do.

If you are considering the DS at all, I would encourage you to read DSFacts.com as a starting place. Also, I'd be more than will to meet with you over coffee and answer any questions you might have since I've had the experience of both procedures.

You are absolutely right.  I should consider a doc that has done all 4 surgeries.  I hope that bcbs federal covers it.  I think it does.  I would like to go with Dr. Stewart he is closer to OKC.  The last time I was told about a doc in Nebraska who did DS.  I think I was approved back then but thought it was too far to travel.  Well, I need help now and if I have to I will travel.

DSFacts.com has a list of vetted DS surgeons. Dr. Anthome I believe is the surgeon in NE. A lot of us had to travel. I had my revision in California. There are only a handful of skilled revision surgeons in North America.

I live in TEXAS and we have Federal BCBS..... they will  pay for DS here.  I am having band to sleeve revision and had to fight to get it.   You have to meet all previous criteria plus documented proof that you took measures to lose weight and exercise.

Best wishes to you on your upcoming revision.  When I had my sleeve here in OK BCBS Federal did not pay for it.  I had to do self pay on most of it, but it did cover some of the tests.
