getting rid of the shame?

How do I go about getting rid of the shame I feel for not losing as much weight as others close to me or just others who have been so successful in their surgery?

I had RNY almost 10 years ago. Started at 312- had surgery at 290 and still never got below 200. I exercised, never drank with my meals, measured my food, etc.  People that I know didn't do any of the above and got to goal.  I know I shouldn't compare myself, but it is hard not to.  Now I find myself actually considering a revision, and asking myself if it will work for me this time?  I am asking myself "how did I end up here again?"  I have gained about 20# during that 10 years and most of that was from a baby I had last year. (Gained 45- lost 25).  I have worked out and did WW for the last 5 years on and off, just to maintain.  So tired of feeling ashamed and guilt. Anybody else in this boat?

I know exactly how you feel.  I was at 302 when I had my R-N-Y in 2002. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get elow 200.  My lowest was 203 and I started to regain a little at a time until I realized I had gotten back up to 281 again.  I started going back to the bariatric center for help.  I have started to lose again but very slowly, am back down to 260.

I also found out by way of an endoscopy that my stoma has been stretched out from 10mm to 22mm. I went thru the process and I was set up to have the ROSE procedure done, but when I finally got my approval from insurance, the doctor that was supposed to do it doesn't do it anymore.

Now I have an appointment with my orignal surgeon to go over my other prospects(revision).  So not only am I ashamed with myself, I am also fustrated as  have tried for almost a year to have something done to fix it.

You ought to go back to your surgeon and ask to have an endoscopy done to see if the same thing has happeded to you.  If so it can be fixed.  Good Luck, I am rooting for you!

I know how you feel, I had my surger at 445 and only got down to 281 maybe might have been a little more than that. I then started to gain weight and had a revision to DS last year. Right now I am sitting at 269 and happy I did it. hang in there!!!

Thanks for giving me hope SOSOCLARK!   How much have you lost since your revision? They say it is alot slower the 2nd time around, But it sounds like you have no regrets.  did you have any complications? Was your orginial a band or a RNY?
Thanks for responding!
