Anyone have a revision to their DS. A shortening of their Common channel?

This has become an option for me. I've gained almost 30lbs in a year. And no matter what I do, it won't come off. I'm afraid of gaining more weight.

I was a DS revision in 2008 after an RNY and an RNY revision. That's 3 surgeries. Not looking forwards to a 4th. NO WAY.

But, I'm also not liking the possibilities and comorbidities associated with being morbidly obese again.

If anyone has had this done, please chime in and offer some insight and advice. I'm at a loss right now.

I didn't have a DS.  But had my cc shortened.....it was shortened to less than 18".....  For me it was bad news...I almost died of malnutrition.  Had to have it reversed.  After 1 1/2 years I am still suffering with deficiencies that have affected me.

you poor dear, sounds like you are better, you must have had a distal rny.  a 45 cc is very short, most surgeons would not do that, even the european surgeons are making them longer now.  there are a few rny (distal) to ds revisions on the ds board one in particular revised from a distal rny to a ds and is slowly getting better....hope you are doing better.

Hey woman, I am 18 months out this month and my wt loss stopped several months ago.  I have 80 pounds now to reach goal of 170 and normal BMI.

One Dr. I saw here close to home says re-sleeve and Dr. Greenbaum says no shorten CC.  I don't know if insurance will cover this now that I am finally off of death row & all Comorbidities are gone.  I too am terrified of regain and going back to being sick.

I just dont know what to do.  I am however going to experiment a little to try and kick in some wt loss again by going back to all protein shakes, liquid pre-op diet  but this time with good vits intake and fiber pills for 14 days to see if I loose anything.  I have already removed sugar and low carbed.  I don't understand how everyone else can do low carb and loose and I can't.

Oh and lets not forget that I do walk everyday for fitness with my dogs cuz they need it too.  I also kayak and bike alot.  So I do get excercise.  I cannot lift wts due to huge abdominal hernia.

I have been low carbing and like u, I am no where near goal. I'm gonna give myself a month or so and see if I can get at least into the 100's again. THEN, I'll see what gives with Dr. G.

I'm like you. Why is it so much easier for others to lose, and I still have to struggle.

I can't say that my DS is a failed surgery because I have lost 165-170 (bouncing back and forth for months) and I am so much alive now but as with the lap band my wt loss just stopped and seems to just be stuck forever.

I feel so lost but at the same time hopful.  I guess we will see how my little experiment works.  I don't want to be malnurished so I will make sure I get Protien, vits, water and fiber but my calories and carbs will be next to nothing.  I should see something in 2 weeks because excercising and taking in less than what I burn should produce a loss you would think.  I will keep you informed of how this goes.

I am buying some extra protein this weekend and starting Monday.  I vow to reach my 170 goal somehow someway and I really don't want surgery again either.
