lapband to ds

I never had a UGI and have scheduled my first one with my lapband surgeon. im a little nervous that he is going to give me a hassle about wanting to revise to a DS. Obviously if he is not on board I will find another GI dr to do my UGI.

I want to make sure they bill the insurance so I have told them the problems ive been have like being stuck on food one minute then fine the next (well after ive sat with that terrible stuck feeling for an hr or two) and increased heartburn, which has not been a problem til recently.

Do you think those are sufficient reason to bill for?

Thanks for any info!

Usually a radiologist performs the Upper GI.  Or are you talking about an EGD (where there is a scope)?  The EGD is usually persformend by the doc/surgeon.

Persistent Nausea & vomiting should be justification enought for your insurance to pay.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Yes, you need to do this to have your complications recorded for when you go to a revision surgeon. Don't worry about your surgeon. If he tries talking you out of it, put him in his place and tell him to f off. He's the one that put that nasty band in you, and you should not let him try and push you around and convince you of needing some other revision.

Best of luck

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
