Has anyone ever had the gastric bypass or stomach stapling a long time ago 25 yrs or more. Has anyone ever had to revise thier wls with another one?  Which surgery did you choose?  Which Dr. did you choose? Are you satisfied with the surgery? Anyone?

Hi,
I had RNY in 1999, lost 135 pounds, gradually regained about 50 pounds.  Then I had the ROSE.
I wasted $8,000.00 plus travel expenses.  I felt no restriction whatsoever.  I did not lose one pound.
In fact, I continued to gain.
After gaining 40 more pounds, a kind stranger on OH suggested that I look into the DS.  I had been fighting the DS because I did not want to have terrible gas and poop in my pants Also, DS'rs stink!  Lies, all liesDisgusting shameful lies!!!!!!
I got my DS, self paid (that wasted money on the ROSE sure would have come in handy!!!)
IIt's been a slow loss (revisions usually are slower) but I have lost 82 of those pounds.  I don't stink, have terrible gas, but I do poop my pan........ NO-just kidding.  I can eat fairly normally, and feel great.

Best of luck to you.

I had stomach stapling surgery in 1989 and was revised to a DS in 2005.

I was self-pay as my HMO insurance only covered RNY so I went to Dr. Marchesini in Brazil.

I would have this surgery once a year if necessary.  I lost my Type II diabetes, my high blood pressure, my high cholesteral and my sleep apnea and 149 pounds. (+ or - 5#)

I had zero complications and am almost 6 years out.

I, too had a WLS that failed, I am in the process of going from RNY (gastric bypass) to DS.  My 3rd attempt to get approved by insurance is in the process at the insurance company.

Have you checked into the vetted surgeons on http://www.dsfacts.com/?  That is an AWSOME, AWSOME website!!!!!  Their information is accurate.  One of the OH people here (Bev) started the website.

All I can say is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you decide on a revision to the DS, here is a list of surgeons who do the RNY to DS revision, because it is SOOO complicted, it is a short list.
Also, here is a good link to a GREAT research paper:  A must read!!!
