I had my consultation today with Dr Matei today and he told me that I am a good candidate for the revision since I have only lost about 80lbs since having the gbs June 2009. He warned me that a revision is more detailed than gbs, he said that I would have to be on a feeding tube for close to a month----was not prepared for that. I would like to know what you experienced after your revision.
Ok my original surgery was 5/2006 and I was very successful with my surgery I lost 150 pounds in about one year. I however never lost another pounds after that, in part it was the surgery and not me. I worked out about 2 hours per day 6 days per week and still couldn’t get the weight off. Now understand that I started out at 455 so that wasn’t near enough weight to get me to a healthy BMI. I did get down to about 285 but then started gaining and ended up back at 350. My original surgery was RNY and I was revised to a DS on December 82010 and it was the best thing I could have done for my health. So far I have lost 42 pound and I am 6 weeks out.
Depending on how much weight you have to lose a revision can be very rewarding but it comes with its risk too. What are you revising from and what was you original surgery? Really I think it is best to look at all of your options and then make an informed decision about your health.

I have seen some revisions on here that have had feeding tubes. Not a big deal, if you ask me. A month out of your life, after major surgery? Just my opinion!!! I have also seen that a feeding tube CAN be a good thing, if you become dehydrated, saves you a trip to the ER and IV fluids, you just put fluids in your feeding tube!!!
I agree with Sophia about the informed decision thing!!! Not shure what you are looking at revising to, but, please check into ALL of the surgeries & make an INFORMED decision!!!! And most of all, KEEP POSTING!!!!!
