Consulted with Dr. K re. a revision from RNY to DS and rec'd a dx of Esophageal Motility...
Hello. I finally met Dr. K and I wasn't disappointed. I found him to be very thorough and passionate about his field. He reminded me a lot of Dr. Oz.
Anywhoo, he ordered an UGI which I had yesterday as well. I learned that I have the esophageal motility condition. I was surprised as I thought I had an ulcer or something. I do have a problem with regurgitation, reflux as well.
So, now I'm getting ready for the fun part of this journey...receiving insurance approval. Since my insurance carrier states that revisions are covered if the necessity is due to a mechanical problem I'm hoping that the new diagnosis, high BMI, HBP, etc. will result in a quick approval.
So, we'll see.

hi Tonya,
March 2010 I was diagnosed with severe esophogeal dysmotility, in my case it is irreversible caused by late term physical damage brought on by the lap band. my pre op fluoro was normal. I have had a personal consultation with Dr K about my esophagus health, and I too found him very passionate about his field, and very nice also. I will warn you, of the 6 bariatric surgeons I consulted with not ONE agreed with what to do with me, left me in an awful posiition. I specifically asked Dr K, gosh how come none of you bariatric specialist agree on what to do with me if you all have the same information-his reply "becasue we have no idea what we are doing" and that I completly agree with. I had to pick what was best for me on my research etc. you will be in great hands with Dr K. now it is insurance time.....horrrrray
