How soon is too soon to think revision?
Lesley
Yes I waited until my two years was up to contact surgeons- however, I started research at ten months out. While you wait your two years do plenty of research and keep food journals in case it is a requirement for your insurance. I am looking at the middle or end of March for my revision- I will know for sure tomorrow! You are fortunate to live close to Dr. Greenbaum; I'm making and 11 hour drive but I know that it will be worth the trip for me! Again keep us informed and best of luck to you in whatever decision you make!
Lesley I'm pretty sure that the surgeon's office can't submit until 2 yrs are up. You will have to do preop testing though so I don't see why you can't schedule your 1st appointment now. Depending on your insurance you may have to do the md supervised diet or the surgical preperation program. He moves pretty quickly. My first appointment was at the end of november and my revision is in 10 days.
Kudos to you Lesley!
If someone had cancer or heart problems or whatever....they wouldn't hesitate to go back for another procedure or treatment to save their life! I think planning a revision is very responsible of you! You know you aren't yet cured (per your BMI) and since there "is" something more available, for an even better outcome, and an even better quality of life..... then GO FOR IT!!! I'm currently seeking a THIRD revision (DS with Dr. Keshishian)......this time, not for weight loss but to fix some stuff that happened from the 2nd revision and as an investment in a healthier future. We are weight loss warriors!!! LOL! Let's beat the beast!!! C ya on the skinny - healthy finish line!

Thank you, Joyce!
That is the perspective I am trying to have for myself -- obesity is a chronic disease, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone for needing further treatment from any other chronic disease, so why should this be different? I do feel like I have rocked my RNY but it can only do so much without a tweak.
Thank you so much for the encouragement. I appreciate it!

It took me 6 years to realize that the RNY wasn't a complete fix (even though I was compliant) and that the extra ring was doing me more harm than good. I'm so glad I decided to seek a revision, I only wish I had done it sooner. No more throwing up, no more reflux, no more pain. I can drink and eat, I can take ibuprofen for a headache, and I can swallow vitamins without losing them.
I was 328 when I signed up for RNY, lost down to 175 at one point. I regained what I did mostly because I could only eat soft, mushy, carb-laden foods. I was 221 when I had my DS revision. At 7 weeks out I'm 191, and yeah that might seem slow, but my scale says I'm losing body fat like crazy.

Wow, it's great to hear that you're doing so well post-revision. I will definitely stop by the DS board, I'd love to hear more about Dr. Greenbaum. I think if I am to go ahead with the revision I would go to him, and I feel pretty lucky I live so close to his office.
I was feeling a little guilty for even thinking of wanting to revise the RNY at 2 years out, but I guess if I know now that it's not going to get me all the way to my goal, there isn't any reason to not think about it. I'm just tired of feeling like I'm fighting a losing battle.

Go to your surgeon and talk to her. keep a journal to share, express your concerns . Your story is very much like my own. you may be asked to do some test to check your pouch. egd etc... if you dont like the answer you get check out other Dr's - it's your continued success .
My Ins did pay for my revision! I lost less than 50% and was less than 2 yrs out. Dont wait to contact your Dr's - not much is going to change in the few months , act now !! I had an initial decline and then the challenge . dont be afraid to write a letter on your own behalf to make the insurance comp realize your a real person!
