This may be a stupid question.....but, if a surgeon does revision surgeries what types of surgeries would that be? I srazily assumed that if they advertise revisions that meant all types. Any info would be appreciated.

You have to ask each surgeon I think.

Being able to do revisions is an advanced skill for surgeons, so the field of people doing it is much smaller than for wls generally. If a surgeon only has experience of doing the RNY, they might only do revisions to RNY - like resizing a pouch or making it extended RNY for example.

The next level up in skill are surgeons who will revise one kind of surgery to another - like RNY or band to DS for example. In the case of RNY to DS the surgeon has to virtually undo all of the RNY and start again, but this time on tissue that has been operated on before and may have become scarred or fragile. This is risky and requires experience in three types of surgery really - the RNY, the DS and the ability to work on revision.

Not many surgeons do all of the surgeries anyway. Some say they do, but in reality will only give you an eRNY if you ask for a DS. If you are looking for revision it is best to post on the board of that surgery and ask for recommendations for good revision surgeons.
