My original surgeon said he woukd do the distal, waiting on the approval from BCBS after the appeal.  I saw a DS surgeon on Wed. past and he suggested I wait 2 yrs. since I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and took my last chemo treatment this past Jan.  I thought I wanted the DS but now I am just undecided as what to do.  Good luck with BOB, I understand it does work from another post on here.

Thanks Marianna,

Sorry you are dealing with breast cancer. How are things now?

I  don't know much about the DS, but those who have posted, seem very happy with it. Di your surgeon consider a BOB? It might be less invasive and more likely to be covered by insurance.

just a thought.

Hi DD,
The cancer is gone, but he feels I should give it time to reoccur if is going to before I try to lose a lot of weight, I guess.  I still have restriction, but I graze and eat junk(potato chips, dioritos, cupcake,)  So i really need the malabsorption part.  Call my original dr office and still in the process of writing the appeal letter for the insurance co.  Keep in touch.
