OMG! Wow after a few months of waiting...a new psych eval and a meeting with the nutritionist...I got my call today! I spoke with the office manager and we agreed that I should get it done before the end of the year. So next Friday the 11th is my BIG day! I am so excited to finally get this band out of my body and start loosing with the RNY! This morning I was extremely nervous. Now, I am getting excited. I'm sure there are more mixed emotions to come =)

Just have to pop in and put in my .02...

I just revised from Band to DS.    After living in lap band hell for 3 years, I researched and researched to find the best surgery for ME.   I was approved for the Rny for almost a year but could not bring myself to do it.  I worked at a bariatric clinic and saw all the horror stories live out before my eyes.

After my ins (bc/bs) started covering the DS I submitted for procedure and doctor change and wanted to hop on the table that day.

That being said.  Please check out www.dsfacts.com before you get cut on.  IMO the quality of life after the surgery is better than with RNY.  You may have to wait and find a DS surgeon,  but it would be worth it.    There are only about 12 surgeons in the US that do the DS.  My surgeon does all 4 main WLS and he will not tell you which one to get.  He tells you the positives and negatives of each surgery and lets you decide.

Come ask questions on the ds message board.  It is not too late to change things.  IF you want to.   My choice is not yours, and you may love the RNY, but please research the DS before you make your decision.

Good luck!
