RNY to Band or DS
Thanks Kerry. That was actually going to be my next question...whether a DS would be recommended with only 50-60 pounds to lose. I'll just keep it in the back of my head...and once the things that are holding me back from exercising the way I should are resolved...get my butt in gear to do what I have to do. I would personally be happy with a 30-40 pound loss, plus the plastics surgeries...I've never had a goal of being a stick...just a healthy weight and happy with my body.

DS will not cause the return of the hearth burn.
The other issue is if a revision is needed for 50-60lbs weight gain. That depends as to what the BMI is at that weight. If a patient is gaining weight after RNY, I would much rather operate when they have gained little ( and still meet the NIH guidelines based on the BMI) rather than weight till a lot of weight is gained.
Duodenal switch operation as a revisional operation is a proved procedure. It outcomes that are very predictable.
Seek a surgeon who is experienced with revisions.
Good luck.
I am currently about 191 pounds with a BMI of 34.9 (that's what happens when you're short!), having regained about 15-20 pounds over the last 18 months. My pre-WLS BMI was about 44, after having lost some weight on my own, and my all-time high BMI was at least 55. It could easily have been higher...I refused to get on a scale for a few years there.
When/if I decide to go for a revision, it'll have to wait about 4 years until I am back in the States and can find a reliable/experienced dr. I had my RNY in Belgium, now live in Indonesia, and in two weeks am moving to Bulgaria. I highly doubt there are many WLS drs in Bulgaria, let alone any that have experience w/revision to DS.
