Hi Bri,

I am in the process of removing the lapband and converting to RNY as well, due to severe acid reflux. Still waiting for insurance approval. Welcome to the board. I'll be interested to hear how it goes for you. Best of luck!!

Thanks! good luck to you too. My insurance had me do nutrionist again and psch eval, doctor wrote them a letter about my reflux and bam approved! I was so happy. My work is giving me more headache then insurance did!

DS on 01/14/08

Have you looked into the DS? I was also seeking a revision to RNY when someone pointed me to the DS forum and the rest is history. I had the DS a little over a year ago and reached goal recently. Hi Bri,
Our surgery dates are very similar. I had the lap bank in April of '06 and am currently waiting for approval for the RNY. How long did it take you to get the approval? I did well with the lap bank for first year and a half. Then started to have problems and had to have all the fluid removed. Needles to say, I have gained back all of the 70 lbs. I lost. So depressing.

A bunch of DSers are getting together on June 28th in NYC, you are welcome to join us and ask all the questions you want. I chose the DS because I saw so many people trying to revise from the RNY to the DS and I had already had one failed weightloss surgery and didn't want to hace another.

Good News. My revision surgery was approved and I am scheduled for July 2. I am really looking forward to getting the surgery behind me and moving on into the next phase of weight loss with the RNY. Thanks for the reply and advice.

Revision on 05/26/09

Good luck to you! I had my revision on 5/26, and I'm doing great. Recovery was similar to that of the band. My only struggle is with getting in enough calories, so in the mornings I feel like I have low blood sugar and have to make sure I eat before I get into a warm shower.

Im in the same situation.. had my band may 04 and now have appointment with my surgeon on July 15th, info has already gone to insurance, and should have approval by my appointment so that we can schedule surgery.

I too did great with the band 1st year and a half then hit wall and started having issue's now have scar tissue blocking the opening around my band and it couldn't be moved with endoscopy and dilation, so onto plan b.. surgery. Band to bypass. I talked to my dr about the DS and he would not recommend it.. said it has not been around long enough and long term result's are questionable. Said it has been great for the short term, but he doesnt do it and doesnt recommend it right now, until further long term result's are known.
