psych eval for revision?

Did most of you who originally had psych evals for your first surgery, mine being lap band have to have a second one in order to be approved for their revision, mine being RNY.  If so any advice??  thanks brandyII

 I did not have to have the full blown one.  My doctor just required that I get a short evaluation from a professional stating I understand my decision and that there appeared to be no abnormalities like bipolarism and such.  

Thanks for the reply I'm required by my surgeon to get the same full psych eval and could go back to the same doc who did the first but found one closer so will go there.  It's just one more person controlling the puppet strings of my surgery!

 Frustrating to be sure!  Sometimes its hard to understand why they would require another one if you had already underwent the full blown one.  Sometimes insurance mandates it at other times I think, like everything else, its a business and the professions makes money of of it.  

I did need a new evaluation for the insurance company - not for my surgeon.

I just have to think positively!

I didn't have to do any of the things that I previously did. The doc just submitted the paperwork and after I was approved scheduled and did the surgery. I am seeing a therapist now though to work with me on some things I feel is an issue. Good luck to you and it will all be worth it in the end.

I just got my approval for revision surgery (lapband to RNY) yesterday and I don't have to do anything.  My Dr. submitted a letter requesting the revision, insurance approved it, my date was set.  Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I suppose I am a bit resentful that I have to do the psych eval again and it's due to the fact that if the lap band doesn't work it's "our fault" or seems to be the attitude.  You're lucky and good luck with your revision!
