Most often proximal is done.  The amount bypassed can vary, but distal RNY means more intestines are bypassed.

The Distal Bypass is almost like having a DS. You have to be very careful about keeping up with your vitamins and your proteins because it makes you restrictive and malabsorbtive. If you are not sure PLEASE talk to your surgeon and get all the info. Best of luck to you. Join us on the DS forum and you will learn so much about vitamins and nutrients and how to deal with the distal part of your surgery.
