I am having a revision on 2/27, so you are so not alone. Just remember at least you are trying to do something about your health.

I had surgery May of 02. I too am gaining weight. 50lbs so far.  I'm setting new goals or should I say a carrot and hope I can get this weight off.  I thought it was just me. I am so unhappy about this weight gain.

Hi,  I'm also thinking of a revision. I had RNY in November 2001 and have gained 30 lbs in the pas two years. I also feel hungry all the time much like I was before surgery. I'm afraid of gaining any more weight back.  Can anyone tell me if insurance companies are paying for revisions?

My insurance paid for my revision from RNY to DS.  I'd check into the DS for a revision.  The DS'rs rarely need revisions and when they do, it's usually because they've lost too much weight and need their common channel lengthened.

Your gastroesterologist sounds misguided. You're too fat to have surgery at 170?  Uh..... I don't think so. I just had revision surgery at 230 pounds.   You need to get to a qualified surgeon who does revisions.

It is hard to find a doctor who will do a revision.  I have been looking in Oklahoma.  I am not sure which surgery to have.  The people in my area who have had the RNY have kept their weight off.  The ones that have had the VBG have gained most or all of their weight back.  If anyone knows of any in Oklahoma, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you.

Thankfully, that Gastro will not be reffered anymore RNY or WLS pt's . He clearly does not have the background to guide pt's through proper medical care.
