revison
A revision is a subsequent surgery done on a weight loss surgery patient. So... a Lap-Band person may revise to a VSG, RNY, MGB, or DS. An RNY person may revise via StomaphyX, putting a Lap-Band around their pouch, or getting a DS. A DS person may have a Lap-Band placed over their sleeve. Etc.
As for qualifications, it depends on one's insurance company. Mine will not do a revision unless one requalifies for WLS again... so BMI over 40 (35 with comorbidities)... plus a 6 month doctor supervised diet and exercise program.

Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin. I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby. 5 years out from revision to VSG. Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
