Any one have a revision from VSG?
VSG hasn't been around too long as a stand-alone, which is probably why you haven't heard of any. It originally was conceived of as a first step in a two-part DS. The sleeve was done and hopefully the patient would lose 50-100 pounds thus reducing their operative risk for the second part of the operation. The docs found out that many of the patients didn't need the second part. They've now revised the sleeve to create a smaller pouch thus making it more successful (using a 32 French Bougie).
Balthasar reports that roughly 80% of his patients don't need the second part.
Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin. I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby. 5 years out from revision to VSG. Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
Congratulations! How did you like Dr. Pleatman and POH (I think that's the hospital he uses)?? I was going to go with him had I not become preggers again. :)

I thought they were great. I think Dr. Pleatman is kind of quiet but he's nice and answers all of your questions. Never felt rushed when I was meeting with him, the first appointment lasted over an hour...and there were others in the waiting room too. The hospital was excellant, the doctors and nurses were very friendly, explained everything they were doing, asked questions if they were unsure. Some of the students came in and asked if I would explain what I was having done, they weren't familier with it, one even asked if she would be able to scrub in on the surgery (she was.) Going down into the OR I had about 4 escorts, about 5 people in the room waiting for me they all took a minute to say who they were and what they do... that was nice too, I didn't have all kinds of people swarming around me like I wasn't even there. Most of them, if I remember, came to see me post op, saw about 4 doctors the following 24 hours. Over all I was very happy with the care. Hope that helps. Elaine
