I had the SRVG (Silastic Ring Vertical Gastroplasty) 3 years ago.. Dr. Hamn of Plano was my surgeon. I have lost approx 100 lbs, have maintained about 70lbs of it. The problem is I cannot eat... just about anything i eat, I throw up, which isnt letting me lose weight. I went to Dr Hamn about 6 months ago and he sent me to a gastro specialist and he done a procedure to widen my band so that food would go through and I could keep things down. Well that worked for about a month... now I am back to square one, cant eat! Dr. Hamn didnt seem to interested in doing a revision on me.... If anyone has had this problem or have any advice for me.. please help!

I don't know anything to say that might help you just wanted to offer you my sympathy.  You didn't say what your BMI is now.  It might be possible to have a revision to a DS if your BMI is high enough.  If it is, I would contact Dr. Husted at www.paclap.com if I were you.  He's an expert in revision surgery.  You can read my profile if you'd like to see why I chose the DS for my revision. Best of luck

I had my SRVG done in 95.  I lost 100 lbs also.  I was able to maintain about 75 to 80lbs of it off for about 3 to 3 ½ years.  Then I also started vomiting.  I contacted my surgeon and he said just to let my GI track rest and go back to soft foods for a while. I vomited so much and so hard.  Little did I know that I had ruptured my staple line.  I did not have insurance at the time and had paid for the SRVG out of my own pocket.  Just until this year did I get insurance that treated Morbid obesity.  I had an upper GI done and everything is gone according to the radiologist.

After 11 year I have regained 85 of my 100 back.  I suffer from heartburn and have lost my back lower molars due to the vomiting.  Due to my weight regain my PCOS is almost out of control.  I am hypertensive now, insulin resistant, have high cholesterol, painful female issues, depression/anxiety not to mention the weight bearing joint pain again.  The problems seem worse than before I had my SRVG.  My metabolism is shot from the low calorie diets to maintain the weight loss the PCOS influence also. I live on the maximum of 1200 calories a day and average 800.  I try to keep the exercise up doing walk aerobics 3 to 4 times a week in addition to keeping up with my 2 very active little boys.  GET HELP NOW.  Even if it means you have to find another Surgeon. BE Proactive!! I am trying to get a revision to a DS.  I never want to experience vomiting like that ever again.
