loving my revision from RNY to DS
Hi Cindy, I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble, but as a former RNY patient, I still had episodes of vomiting 12 years after my RNY and after I had regained all my weight plus some back.
As a revision patient from RNY to DS you must have a surgeon who is extremely capable and is experienced with revisions. This surgery is the most difficult of all with more opportunity for severe complications. Which is why I choose Dr. Husted/Dr. Rabkins. It was expensive, over and above my insurance but well worth it for me for the peace of mind it gave me. I don't mean to scare you but it's absolutely necessary you find the best surgeon you can find, if you're going to go ahead with the revision to DS. As for the quality of life, nothing beats it. Read my profile. I've had absolutely zero complications. None whatsoever.
I have no idea about which Dr's take medicare but here is paclap's website with info that could help you find out. They do have a toll free number. Telephone:
(415) 668-3200
or toll-free:
(888) 848-THIN http://www.paclap.com/
There is a DS board here where you could ask. http://obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/a,messageboard/board_id,535 7/cat_id,4957/
Also, go to www.duodenalswitch.com and ask on that board.
Absolutely the best, bar none. IMO. Come over to the DS forum and learn about the surgery. You can also find tons of information at www.duodenalswitch.com
Hope to see you soon!
