I went to my appt with a new surgeon, who explained that the pain in my port area along with the MASSIVE amount of bloating I have expirenced (I really look 9 months pregnant! all has happened in the last 4 days) is most likely from an infection in the port area. He confirmed from the films I took monday (upper GI) that my band has prolapsed AGAIN! SOOOOO, i have to be off work, take really strong antibodics and pain meds, and wait to hear back from the insurance company. He said he was sending it in as an urgent request for approval. He also told me that the revision to RNY is about my only option, due to damage the band has done to the stomach wall. I went in and had a CT scan done today----I am really freaking sick of Barrium as of this point!!!! LOL.. Hopefully we will hear something really soon---my wedding is on the 28th of this month!

If you were comfortable with the band eating restrictions and all, the RnY may work well as a revision for you. When I decided my band had to come out--I had esophageal dysmotility and other problems--I knew I wold NOT do will with the RnY, so I had the DS. There are several people who have had their bands removed--erosions and the related infected ports, slippage and other issues--who post at the (non-commercial site) www.lapbandtalk.com I'm thinking that you may need a really short honeymoon or a quick, quiet wedding with a reception later on...maybe. Good luck, Sue
