Happy Friday!!! We didn't get much snow at all or freezing rain yesterday which was a good thing, but it appears we are getting a decent storm Saturday into Sunday and potentially another one next week. Boy February is really trying to make up for us not getting much of anything in December and January.

Not all that much planned for the weekend. I took some pork out of the freezer to make sausage and whatever else I can come up with. Debating on whether or now we will watch the Super Bowl. If we do I hope the Eagles win.

QOTD: For those of you who are going to watch the SB what is your go to foods? In the past when we did watch it I would always make wings of some sort and ribs. One year I made Chinese and had my brother over. He didn't want to leave and wanted to move in because as he said the food was amazing. I'll still probably make something special Sunday just because.

B: coffee and ham/cheese wraps

L: Will do the Chinese today as I ended up having a fish sandwich from Dairy Queen yesterday

D: Homemade Fish and Chips

30 minutes on the treadmill

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Good Morning. I should have double checked before posting the menu thread. I got tied up with an incident on the tipping floor and didn't get to it sooner.

Believe it or not most dogs don't like beds in their crates. Meisha doesn't but does like her raised bed that is in the kitchen. For some it makes them too hot and uncomfortable. Of course, some dogs just like to be butts and destroy stuff just for the fun of it.

QOTD: We haven't exchanged chocolate in years, but it was Reese's for Irvin. He would get me a glass rose or jewelry as I told him I didn't want any chocolate. Now we exchange steak and seafood. :)

Happy Thursday!!! I got into work at 6:30 this morning to avoid the snow and it is supposed to be done by 2pm so I didn't have to take a PTO day. I like to keep them for the Summertime. It's been snowing since a bit after 7 and we have almost an inch. I think they said we are going to get up to 5 inches before it switches to freezing rain then regular rain. Then on Saturday night into Sunday we are going to get more snow they are saying over 8 inches. So not a fan of the white stuff. And today is the anniversary of the blizzard of "78". That storm put a halt to everything in New England for almost 2 weeks.

QOTD: Does anyone on here remember the blizzard of "78"? I was 3 when it hit Rhode Island. It was like that move the Day After Tomorrow. Nothing moved even the snowplows. The snow came down fast and furious at one point 4 inches of snow was falling in an hour. I don't think I've ever seen a storm that bad since. Even the forecasters were stunned by how much we ended up getting it was like 3ft and the storm surge in Providence flooded the city. They were finding bodies in cars on 95 and 295 days after the storm very scary stuff.

B: coffee and bacon, egg and cheese sandwich

L: thinking of getting some Chinese. Could really go for chicken teriyaki and boneless spareribs

D: Air fried chicken strips with sweet potato fries

No exercise today unless I get to do it tonight.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Mel you might think I'm crazy but see if you can get some bag balm. It is used on the udders of cows, goats, sheep, etc. because their skin can get dried out from milking and the bag balm keeps them moist.

Happy Hump Day!!! We are all halfway through the week. The little Billy Goat Patches is really starting to be a love with Thistle. They are sleeping together and eating together. Hopefully he brings her into heat and gets the job done which I think he will. He's a little over a year old and she just turned 3. Our other female Bean is just being a butthead and honestly I don't care if he breeds her or not. Here's the two "love birds". Patches is the white one.

In other news I found out that the UO's (utility operators) are not doing the equipment inspections that they are supposed to be doing each day. Things have to change around here or heads are going to roll.

QOTD: Anyone ever play tennis? Years ago one Summer I played with my husband just for exercise and I sucked at it. I'm much better at ping pong. I think it's because I don't have to run around a court chasing balls. LOL

B: coffee and bacon/cheese quiche

Good morning menu peeps. It is surprisingly warm this morning at 40 degrees. I spent two hours last night going through a big storage closet we have in the basement that is full of totes. I've been slowly posting stuff on marketplace and in one of my ads I had miscellaneous household stuff with a couple of pieces of the Cornflower corning ware from the 60's. Well of course someone asked if had any other pieces. Yes, yes, I do three totes full. LOL

My boss is out sick as is our purchasing person, so the office is pretty quiet today. I have a couple of month end reports to finish up and then I have to go out and get some gift cards for some employees who have upcoming employment anniversaries.

QOTD: Do any of you collect antiques or unique things? While my favorite things are old platters and Painted Ponies. I did back in 2001 end up with a large collection of the Corning Ware Blue Cornflower. I had intended to put them out in a wall cabinet that was supposed to be built but never was. So now I've decided to sell the pieces and I'm finding out that many of them are worth much more than I originally paid for them. So, we will see if I can make a little cash from them.

B: coffee and ham and eggs

L: jersey mike's Italian sub, but in a bowl

D: spinach stuffed pork loin

Good morning menu peeps. What a weekend. We got a lot done and my mom did come home finally on Friday. While I haven't spoken to her yet just because I've been busy, we have texted a few times. She said she feels pretty good and will just have to monitor her weight and blood pressure daily to make sure she isn't retaining any water, but the doctor was pretty positive that because she is so active and otherwise healthy, she should be fine.

We finally got the billy goat, and the girls were not sure what to make of him. Bean was being a butthead and being mean to him, while Thistle was like hey handsome and loving on him. He's a cute little guy. The tack sale on Sunday went pretty well. I sold some stuff nothing big, but still some stuff and made some cash.

QOTD: Do you watch things like the Grammys? I never do just not interested in stuff like that. But I did laugh this morning when I heard that Beyonce won album of the year. Just because she was born and raised in Texas and named her album Country Carter DOES NOT make her a country singer. She butchered in my opinion Dolly's Jolene and the majority of the songs on her album are more hip hop/country than true country music. But it is what it is I guess.

B: coffee and a cinnamon roll (Irvin wanted some so I made them this morning)

L: 2 slices left over pizza

D: chicken burgers with cheese and bacon

Happy Friday. Nothing new to report on my mom. She's still in the hospital and I'm not sure when she's getting out at this point. My two sisters who were in on a group text with myself and our brother started give my attitude yesterday when I misunderstood a text my brother sent us, and I asked a question about it. They both started yelling at me via the text, so I blocked them. They wonder why I don't go to family functions because they are all ******** plain and simple.

So that American Airline and Black Hawk crash yesterday was just horrible. Of course there are all sorts of speculations as to what happened, whose fault it was, and all sorts of stupid crap. I feel so bad for all the families who lost loved ones due to this tragedy.

QOTD: Do you like to fly? Nope. I've only done it twice and would prefer to keep my feet on the ground. Plus, I don't like heights.

Lil Friday Eve you are here again. This week feels like it is dragging even with all the stuff going on.

My mom is supposed to be released today. It appears per the doctor that she had unprovoked VTE or more commonly know as Deep Vein Thrombosis. Apparently it can come on without warning. The doctor thinks her not getting the proper sleep for the last couple of months and sleeping in a chair because of one of the dogs always having to go out at night was the possible cause along with her not drinking enough fluids.

QOTD: Do you get a good nights sleep? I usually sleep 7-8 hours a night. Sometimes I get up for the dog, but not very often.

Don't feel bad my dog has a melt down when I try to clip her nails. You would think I'm murdering someone in my house with the sounds she makes. I told her next time she's getting drugged, muzzled and hung in a hammock so I can do her nails, she side eyed me and then ran to my husband crying. Really? Some big brave guard dog you are Meisha.

Good Morning. I didn't get a chance to read any responses yesterday so I will do that in a little bit.

An update on my mom. She has two blood clots in her right lung, a blood clot in each calf, and her left lower ventricle is pumping at 15%. Her heart rate is back to normal and she is on a heparin drip to help dissolve the clots. Other than that the doctors said she's in great shape for being 80. She does not have congestive heart failure like my sister said. She'll be in the hospital for a few more day at least which she hates, but at least she is getting rest that she needs.

I told my siblings that things need to change when she goes home like my nephew (who lives there) getting rid of the other dog he just brought back home with him from Alaska and half of the farm animals need to go. My stepfather just half asses takes care of them and then *****es about everything getting my mom all worked up. If none of them do anything then I will just have to be the bad guy and takes things into my own hands. People won't be happy but I'll be dam if my mom ends up back in the hospital or worse because of them.

QOTD: Do you think modern medicine uses everything that is available to doctors, or do you think they hold stuff for special situations? Sometimes I think there is stuff out there that could be used to treat different illnesses or conditions, but for whatever reason doctors don't use it or are told not to use it. Like my mom they have her on the heparin drip which they said they would try first to see if it helps dissolve the clots if not then there is a pill they can try and that doesn't work they are a few other things they can do. I guess it's just frustrating when doctors try this and that in hopes one of the things work.

Good morning this is going to be quick I just found out that my mom is in the hospital. I'm not 100% sure what is going on, but I plan on calling the hospital to find out. She 80, still works a full-time job and takes care of all the animals she has since my stepfather is as useless as tits on a bull.

I know she's had a cold for a few weeks and has been to the doctors a couple of times. Just last Thursday she saw her PCP and they ordered a chest X-ray and looked her over but didn't find anything out of the ordinary at the time

Well Sunday she got a call from their office asking her to go back in to see them on Monday to recheck her vitals. Her heart rate was 110 and the X-ray showed a little fluid in the lower part of her lungs. The doctor was also concerned about her heart not sure if it was something on the X-ray or not, so she told my mom she wanted her to go to Mirriam Hospital in Providence which is the best cardiology hospital in RI. Of course, talking to one of my sister's this morning she's going on that mom has congestive heart failure and all this other crap. I'll be taking a half-day of work to go see her.

No QOTD I just can't think of anything.

Food is up in the air, but I do have mini mozzarella balls with tomato and cucumbers if I get hungry.

Happy Monday!!! The weekend was pretty good. Took time to go through some horse tack and get it ready for a sale coming up this Sunday. Didn't do all that much else. The truck didn't want to start so we still didn't get the billy goat, but I'm not overly worried about getting the girls bred. It happens when it happens.

I guess it's the Chiefs and the Eagles for the SuperBowl. Hopefully the Eagles win. It seems to me that the refs are being paid to keep the Chiefs going especially since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are such a big thing and apparently the Swifties are helping with ticket sales. Yup big eyes roll here. I feel like football just isn't what is used to be.

QOTD: Will you be watching the SuperBowl in a couple of weeks? We might maybe if there isn't anything else better on. Kinda wish Buffalo was in it over the Chiefs then I would watch.

Happy Friday!!! Yesterday turned out to be a pain in the ass day at work. I still can't believe the plant manager lets some of guys get away with the **** they do. I was so tempted to just leave yesterday. Someone keeps messing up the ash trailers which in turn messes up my reports. I took an hour and walked around the plant looking at the trailers to see which ones were properly numbered and which ones weren't.

When I got back in the plant I let the PM know of all the slip hazards I found. Whoever did or should I say didn't do any sanding/salting left high traffic area covered with ice. He called the SS over the radio to tell him what I found and to get people out there to fix the areas and of course some of guys came through the office to give me **** because they had to go outside and actually work. I was so aggravated that I told them to **** off and if they did their job right the first time they wouldn't be going back out in the cold.

QOTD: If you were given 10 Million dollars with the stipulation that you had to live on a cruise ship for the rest of your life and only be allowed two weeks a year on land would you do it? As much as I love boating I wouldn't do it. There isn't enough money in the world for me to have to deal with people on a cruise every day. I like my animals and my gardening, people not so much.

Friday Eve is here again. Still bitter cold out, but it is slowly starting to break.

Yesterday we had one of the big air compressors that help with the boilers go off-line at work right before reporters from The Day newspaper came to do a story and take pictures. So much fun watching people run around like chickens with their head's cutoff. I had to go out to the scale house for 30 minutes, but other than that I jus****ched people go crazy. It was almost comical.

Nothing much else going on today unless the cold weather decides to cause more issues in the plant.

QOTD: If you were told you could only drink one thing everyday for the rest of your life what would it be? While I do enjoy my daily coffee and the weekend glasses of wine I would pick just good ole water. Yea I know very plain and basic, but I drink so much more water in a day than any other liquid and if I don't bad things happen. Passing out from being dehydrated years ago really scared Irvin. He wasn't all that happy with me and was balling his eyes out thinking I was dead. If I were dead hun I wouldn't be breathing. I realized then he's not all that good in an emergency situation. Me on the other hand can hold it all together until the situation had been handled then the adrenaline rush hits.

We're halfway through the week and the temps are supposed to start turning around a high of 40 for the weekend. This bitter cold sucks. I think Finley has finally stopped being mad at Meisha. They were lying together in the kitchen when I came home from work. Of course, he is a cat and can change his mind when ever.

Happy Tuesday!! So cold out poor Meisha didn't even want to go out to go potty. Lucky for her I have the big garden/greenhouse so she just had to run quickly to that instead of walking around in the snow. Her paws were getting cold walking in the snow and she won't let me put booties on them.

Doesn't look like much happened at work yesterday since my desk doesn't have an notes on it or any messages on my phone. I wish I could have stayed home today just not feeling like working.

QOTD: If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Honestly I'm not sure. It would have to be a place that doesn't get these rotten subzero temps and I need to be near the ocean for fishing purposes which I guess kinda puts several places out of the running. I might choose New Zealand. The scenery is beautiful and they filmed LOTR maybe I can live in a Hobbit Hole.

Well it's a cold and snowy start this Monday morning here in CT. The next few days are supposed to be pretty cold with a high of 2 degrees and a windchill of -15. I called my boss and told him I was taking a PTO day. There's 5 inches of snow on the ground with ice underneath and I didn't feel like driving in that crap.

We decided to hold off on getting the Billy goat due to the cold weather that we are expecting. We added an IBC tote in the trailer for an added area for them to sleep with extra straw, but wanted to see how the two girls do first.

I personally would talk with Emma and say something like "hey Emma I would really appreciate it if you help me make better and healthier meals for all of us" and ask her if there is anything that she would like to try making. I know 16 can be a tough age to get them to engage in doing things, but maybe look up healthier meals on Youtube together.

As for the two younger ones again slowly start introducing a new food each week. Not sure if you and your family eat out or do fast foods, but there are so many different hacks out there that can make those McDonald's chicken nuggets a healthy food that is made at home or really any other fast food can be made as a healthy alternative at home.

I always think outside the box. One of my go to snacks is a dill pickle wrapped with cheese and deli ham or chicken. It might seem strange, but its good and filling.

Not all that much planned for the weekend. Just picking up the Billy goat from my SIL that we looked at last weekend.

I think Irvin wants me to make a seafood gumbo which I'm OK with since I love gumbo. He's been watching this self-taught chef on youtube and the dude can make some pretty darn good-looking dishes. He also makes Ox tail which looked amazing I've only had them once before made by an old Southern lady and they were to die for.

QOTD: Movie theater or at home streaming? I haven't been to a movie theater in over 20 years. Anything I want to watch I just wait until it's available to stream. With the cost of tickets and then snacks plus having to deal with strangers I'll just stay home thank you.

And don't even get me started on the mini-Velociraptors that are called chickens. If you or anyone wants to know what a cannibalistic animal is just throw a rotisserie chicken in a chicken coop. They will pick that carcass clean in about 5 minutes flat. Never and I mean never go in the coop with shorts on and a fresh cut. Those suckers see red and they are on you like white on rice pecking at you. For some reason they love the sight of blood and go after it.
