Good morning, everybody!
My two weeks with the continuous glucose monitor ended yesterday. I didn't realize that it could have been fifteen days if I wanted to, but I had already started to take it off when I read about the extra day. But I learned what I needed to learn in 14 days, I'm not sure an extra day would have made much difference.
Probably not surprisingly, the readings were pretty consistent with where my A1C has been trending lately, which is about a half point higher than goal. Overall about the equivalent of 7.0 and she would like to see 6.5. I was in range 62% of the time and the doctor wants to see 80%. What was surprising to me was to see how high it spiked after I eat. My fasting is at a nice level, but as soon as I eat something it goes up out of range. Even when it's something without carbohydrates, the level spikes (although not as much).
My plan of action is going to be to try and switch to lower glycemic snacks. I think that if I lower the frequency of spikes, i should be able to get where she wants me. I printed out some materials on snacks and I am going to work on that for a few weeks and then try the monitor again.
The monitor was pretty comfortable to wear. Sometimes it would sting after I worked out, maybe for a half an hour. I didn't have any problems keeping it stuck on even during swimming and showering.
QOTD: I'm also sick of all things Chiefs. I'm sure that we will watch but don't have any formal plans yet

Good Morning Jen and menuers,
I was also sad that Buffalo lost. I have always been a buffalo fan. It is so fun to say, "let's Go Buffalo!" But I will be cheering for the chiefs because being from Pennsylvania Phily is a definite rivalry to the Steelers. One more week and we launch the new system. This week entails getting my car serviced tomorrow, buying Ron Air Pods for his birthday, making pizzelles for a bake sale on Sunday, and trying to stay warm.
QOTD: I will be watching but just not sure where. I may invite people, or we may go somewhere to watch it.
Accountability: Maybe too much bourbon Saturday night, I don't remember. But I did do the gym both days.

Good Monday mornin everyone!
Got a lot done this weekend. I started and finished two bracelets. One for a client and a special one for my niece. Will attach that photo at the bottom. It's my favorite I've made in a long time. It's the pattern I'll use for mine in a slightly different color pattern. It's the same ol' moorish rose pattern just special usage of the colors.
Not sure what is happening today. I need to go to the pharmacy and we need to do a few errands. I am feeling pretty rough. Insomnia and cramps in my shin area are making it hard to sleep. Gotta keep on keeping on.
QOTD: nope, not my thing. I would have went for the bills preferably but will go for the chiefs. I prefer that conference. I used to be into football big time but once the CTE and stuff came out s big as it is...I lost interest. I just know I'm glad my nephew isn't wanting to play it. As for Taylor Swift and Kelce...at least it's died down a bit. The refs have always played favorites. I do like Mahomes as he is from not far from here and played for Tech. Anyway...I don't like the hype of the superbowl.
B: eggs, cheese and Turkey sausage + coffee
L: undecided
D: chicken and maybe some cauliflower
the birds are from last night, there were thousands and thousands! I have a video and the sounds are so cool.
Happy Monday!!! The weekend was pretty good. Took time to go through some horse tack and get it ready for a sale coming up this Sunday. Didn't do all that much else. The truck didn't want to start so we still didn't get the billy goat, but I'm not overly worried about getting the girls bred. It happens when it happens.
I guess it's the Chiefs and the Eagles for the SuperBowl. Hopefully the Eagles win. It seems to me that the refs are being paid to keep the Chiefs going especially since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are such a big thing and apparently the Swifties are helping with ticket sales. Yup big eyes roll here. I feel like football just isn't what is used to be.
QOTD: Will you be watching the SuperBowl in a couple of weeks? We might maybe if there isn't anything else better on. Kinda wish Buffalo was in it over the Chiefs then I would watch.
B: coffee
L: chicken loaf
D: shrimp scampi
30 minutes on the treadmill
Have a great day everyone!!!!
Thank you very much PaulaToronto for your excellent response. I will take it under advisement and try these things that you are recommending.
Since I am on a low carb diet no sugar/flour for many years now I take Magnesium Citrate - 2 a day and three Metamucil SF Fiber Gummies a day and go daily like clockwork after struggling for many years. If you eat low carb the Magnesium helps with leg/muscle cramps and it helps with my sleep as well as with bone health since I did get osteoporosis - not sure how much is surgery related but it did play a role. I would never do a colon cleanse as it affects your gut microbiome and not in a good way.
Happy Anniversary!!!

ð?'? My husband and I are both 16 years post op. Biggest advice is have a lifelong support person that will also hold you accountable. This is a tool & can be abused which will land you back to where you are now but with added health issues. My starting weight was 300 and my current weight is 130. Message me after your surgery for food ideas.
I am thinking of Hawaii in May. When are you planning to go?
I am still flexible and would love if we could meet up there.
