Awe Mel I just want to give you a big hug. I know momma will find a good home and she's so much better off than living off the streets.
I add powdered PB to the chocolate shakes and I think they are so much better cold. Tastes like a reese's pb cup.
That meme is priceless.

Good mornin y'all. Sorry for miss in a lot this week.
we took momma to the rescue Monday. I bawled and bawled. Then finding out about Mary just put me down in the dumps. Dealing with what I am fairly certain is pneumonia or something close to it. Wheezing a lot. Over it all. I really wish I could've kept momma. She had become my baby in 3 short weeks. But it wasn't meant to be with our older cats,..who weigh twice her almost.
So I'm not feeling great.
i haven't been doing great with food but it could be way worse.
QOTD: PP. I also got a case of drinks that has come handy since I'm broke! They were chocolate whic is about my least favorite but i found a way to doctor it up to taste like a candy bar! I couldn't stomach many of the powders.
B: eggs, turkey sausage, cheese and coffee
L: shrimp and corn chowder
D: ????
my most favorite Star Wars meme.
Happy Thursday morning gang. Another rainy day here, but we need the rain and I would rather it be that than snow.
It would be great if those who lurk would join in on the thread. The more the merrier.
Not a lot planned today at work. Just have to confirm the count for the food truck next week. The guys are really excited about the Mexican food truck. Then I have to check the count for the two employee appreciation days at the end of October.
QOTD: What was your go to protein shake or powder after surgery? And do you still on occasion use it? For a ready to drink one it has always been Premier Protein. For a powdered one I used Isopure zero sugar. I still use them both and currently have some Premier Protein that the wonderful folks here at OH sent me.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: salad with chicken salad
D: chicken loaf and mashed sweet potatoes
I did find out that I am not very flexible when it comes to yoga. The instructor was nice enough to show me some stretches that might help me.
Have a great day everyone!!
Yikes, when people drive reckless in bad weather it makes me wonder if they ever even attended Driver's Ed classes. Edit: my answer for QOTD is that I always slow down ten miles below the speed limit in bad weather which is the state law unless they've changed it.
We didn't have any bad weather overnight but I just couldn't get to sleep and spent the whole night tossing and turning. The minute I'd settle down, the cat would climb on me for a cuddle and that made me get restless all over again. I've been using a homeopathic otc for restless legs but some nights it doesn't work at all. I did get a few hours sleep after 8 a.m. and can't figure out why I'm so wide awake now at 11:30 pm. Did more errands today and got a lot of walking in throughout a bunch of different stores but it clearly wasn't enough. How was your yoga class? That seems really hard and a good way to tone muscles. Mostly ate on the run except for dinner when I got home around 9 pm.
B: My choc/protein/collagen shake
L: A Premiere Protein caramel shake. It's ok but the chocolate is my fav so far.
D: grabbed from the freezer a container with 1/2 c marinara sauce and 3 oz. Italian seasoned ground turkey. I'll be glad when the ground turkey is all used up, not a fan.
Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight and wake up refreshed tomorrow.

Morning Gang. Another week almost half done. Boy did we get a rainstorm last night/this morning. It woke us all up at 1:30 this morning with thunder and lighting. Meisha was barking at the thunder as if to say, "shut up I'm sleeping".
Then the ride into work sucked. I don't know why people drive 60-70mph in pouring rain. I was almost hit 3 times by idiots speeding past and then hydroplaning into my lane. One truck went right into the guardrail. Yea I have zero sympathy for people who put others in danger.
Not sure what the day holds here at work. I do have to run to both Home Depot and Walmart for some stuff they need.
QOTD: How do you drive in bad weather? I'm a very cautious driver when the weather is not good be it rain, snow, ice, even high winds. It drives me crazy when other drivers could give to butts about other on the highway.
B: coffee and cottage cheese with berries
L: leftover pot roast
D: leftover lamb leg and squash
Hitting the Y tonight for a yoga class. This should be fun.
Have a great day everyone!!
Sorry, I didn't get back to check for a reply. Contrave is a pill that contains two meds: Bupropion and Naltrexone. Since I see a military doc you always get the generic and I'm glad for it in this case. When you start out you are set on a beginner dose then titrated to the full dose if you tolerate it or kept on a mid-range. That is, if you pass your bloodwork and bp checks. I think it is working so well for me because the Naltrexone targets addiction and i found out how fully addicted to food I'd let myself become. And combined with the gastric bypass restrictions it is really helping me stick to plan and eat proper bariatric portions. Now all I have to do is get the sinuses to heal well enough for me to want to eat again. Do read up about it, don't let the bazillion side effects scare you as they mostly disappear after a few weeks, and talk to your doctor. If not that med, maybe one of the glp1's or something else.

I'm coming back to read some of the posts from that week. Because I'd just had sinus surgery I stayed away from news stories and any YT videos discussing all those events. If I started watching, I'd be crying nonstop. Despite being an old softie the last 10 years have made me pessimistic and I don't foresee our country getting back to being a safe place anytime soon if ever. All we can do is to be good people in our own little parts of this world and practice the golden rule even if nobody around us does.
On 9/11 I was at my job as an early morning shelf stocker at Fairchild AFB's BX. The eerie thing was early in the morning we always had the big bank of display tvs playing national news so we saw the coverage in real time. And literally one week prior we all had to take terrorism training and were told to begin driving to work a different route from our usual because of credible terrorism threats. That day the whole base went into lock-down right away. We all figured we'd be sleeping either in the store that night or if they let us out maybe at the Fairchild Inn if they had room. One of my younger coworkers really flipped out but we all banded together to calm her down. Off and on throughout the day all of us cried multiple times and there were lots of supportive hugs shared. But by late afternoon they eased up and the people who lived on base were allowed to return to their homes and by dinner time we were allowed to leave the base for our homes.
The attack on the towers was so hard on my family because our daughter's then fian****now husband) is a fireman and he'd have been one of the ones to head straight into danger. Once they started doing the charity stair climbs in memory of those firemen lost he has participated frequently. September 11 is always a very somber day.

Monday was my first day out of the house (except for the postop appt) because my bruises were lightened enough I could mostly cover them up with makeup. So I didn't make it over here to post a menu and was so sad to hear that White Dove passed away. And I'm sorry you had such a terrible Monday and that Irvin's aunt passed away too. Fingers crossed that the rest of your week is quiet.
QOTD: Yes, Hubby and I have already paid for our burial expenses and filled out the forms with our service wishes. It is a relief having that worry off our backs...we'd seen what my parents went through with no plans in place other than buying their plot. I think because of Dad's dementia, Mom was too overwhelmed to think of making all those plans by herself. Hubby and I will be buried at the Veteran's Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington. It is fairly new but in a peaceful place and right across from one of Hubby's favorite fishing holes. I don't know if this is true for all Veteran's Cemeteries or just this one, but they have drive-through funerals arranged of course with military precision. It is a very clever layout and practical but you have to laugh at the concept.
I'm on another bit of a stall but it may be my own fault for not eating enough and not drinking enough water. Body prob. thinks it is starvation and my macros are way off. Can't smell much though I can breathe again it isn't normal. So stuffy and i just don't feel like eating. Probably when the swelling comes down that will all be normal again. I'm not allowed to blow my nose for 3 months. And this is prime cold and flu season with school back in session.
B: 2 cups coffee w/2 T half and half
L: A Pure Protein bar and some water spaced in between single bites. It lasted till 5 and I was never hungry.
C: Costco rotiss. chicken. I portioned out 6 oz and it will take all evening to eat.
LS: A Premiere Protein shake with Miralax added. ;)
More errands tomorrow but hopefully I can have enough time to get in some veggies if the garden is still producing zucchini.

The 'like' is for the fact that you aren't without hope...you came here to hopefully get help. What was your motivation back when you had it? When I got revision to gastric bypass it was health. Despite meds, I was a stroke waiting to happen. My young kids deserved better. Surgery worked great, bp was normal and the weight stayed off years till life hit me hard too. Eating was comforting and I even began drinking wine. Gained nearly all of it back and it took another health crisis (the bp again plus all the negatives from being sedentary and reclusive) but I got the best help. My new Dr. offered to help me try out a medically-supervised prescription route. It's working great, I've already got 52# of the regain gone. Do you have any health situations that would be improved and better your quality of life by having surgery? Will getting the weight down help you deal with your life issues? Also, have you reached out to your potential surgeon's office to ask if they have a monthly in-person or zoom support group? Years ago there were firm statistics to support long term success after bariatric surgery when patients attended in-person support groups.
If you don't have any chance for in-person support through a group, friends or family please do stay with us here at OH. We can't mend your life problems but we're all great cheerleaders. And just consider how much experience is here with so many who have already come over to the 'other side'. At one time or other all of us have been at the end of our rope(s) too. You are worth hanging in there and fighting for your health. Don't listen to any outside forces who want you to think otherwise.
Hugs, Molly

You need to pick yourself back up and make YOUR health a priority. You need to remind yourself why you wanted to get weight loss surgery in the first place. Remember what you were doing before "life hit you hard" and the success you were having.
Trust me we have all had setbacks at one time or another. Let go of the rope and grab the bull by the horns to get back on track with taking care of yourself.
