Beautiful pics.
I didn't know they buried the soldiers together.
Per Jen's rec I read On Hallowed Ground (about Arlington cemetery) and I have a better understanding and sincere respect for military cemeteries and the soldiers buried in it.

I think in this case there were very little remains left, and they couldn't distinguish between them.

Some more pictures. These are from the much larger North Africa American Military Cemetery and Memorial. It is impeccably maintained, and had a very kind staff who were happy to show us around.
If anyone is worried about security, they have lions guarding the gate.

One more set. My uncle was killed during the last days of fighting in North Africa, in a battle for Hill 609 and 523. We went to visit the area. In the first pictures, Hill 609 is on the left, and 523 is on the right. We hiked up to the top, which was a real chore. I can't imagine what it was like for those soldiers.
Some of the pictures show the hills from below, and others from the top.

Thank you for sharing the photos from your trip and your uncle's story with us. As long as someone remembers and speaks their name, they are still with us.

Can you imagine hiking those hills with their heavy gears on?

I can't. And especially not with people shooting at you.

QOTD- I say it frequently my BFF, my Mom and my roommate usually.
Halloween was a rain fest, it poured my idea for a table with candy on it was a bust. All's it did was get wet. The candy is still drying off on a towel on the table. I opened one bag and the other isn't opened so I need to find a home for both of them. Is it just me or have the size of the candies gotten smaller? It's windy and rainy today and expected to be for the next 5 days...it's also not going to get much above 50 as well. Good excuse to stay in and watch football.
I do have sympathy for the kids, what a miserable night. I didn't decorate this year either, my roommate had to work and he's the one that loves to hand out candy and loves seeing the kids. I let him do the socializing and I usually have a glass or 2 of wine. Next year, I'm still looking for more decorations. I want the knight that is on a skeleton horse but even half price it's still $189 and where would I store it? There is also a dragon I want that is 6' tall same question where would I store it?
I need to get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

my 6 foot Mando and grogu fold down into a very small box, maybe 18 inches square? same with my christmas dinosaur with penguins. The inflatables actually compact down nicely.
