What's on your Monday menu?
Good morning! I think our Indian summer is officially over. YAY!!! Also, is that a bad thing to say. Matt called it Indigenous Person Summer and it made me think I might be being disrespectful to Native Americans. Any input there? I am here to learn and grow. Back to the yay part. Sweater Season is upon us! So excited.
I did not exercise yesterday. Not at all. I did eat well and drink lots of water. I choose to have leftover pasta for dinner last night instead of fish. Good. That's all gone. I'm making a concentrated effort to move this week into more protein, aiming for 120 grams a day and I'm going to try to accomplish that by eating 4-5 meals a day. Every three hours or so from 9 am to 9 pm. Turns out my Costco rotisserie chicken is the perfect thing to support this. I broke it all down and last night when my tummy started talking at 9, I pulled out 2 ounces and ate that. I realized that I have been very hungry at night, and making impulse decisions for a snack. Lets see how that works out for me this week. For accountability, yesterday I had 5 exercise minutes and 4,245 steps. I'm supposed to be at HIIT class right now, but my trainer is getting a brand new hip as I type this. I am going to need to stay focused to keep on track so when she comes back I have not lost any ground.
QoTD -- Mel 1970 Datsun pickup truck. Burgundy. Loved that truck but the back end was so light if I put too much gas in it going round a corner it would swing out and into a donut. Eeek! Young, new drive, dumb girl equals no bueno. Dad replaced it with a 1972 Datsun 510 that I drove until my 2nd kid was born.
QoTD -- Amy. I posted prolifically about this on Saturday if you'd like to see where I am. Looking forward to the real conversations about the struggles we are all having. I'm here for the support and friendship.

I love that you are here and honest about everything. I don't need to see perfection to feel inspired or challenged! What I want is the real struggle and to hear about what is/isn't working. I love that you are always trying new ways to curb the snack demon. As we have heard a million times, if you are really hungry, you'll eat the chicken. Your slaying the exercise and building muscle is awesome. That is a goal I have too yet I am blocked but seeing you doing it consistently, I know will find a way! I also love reading your menu- I drool!

I'm not an expert on this, but I think either Native American or Indigenous Person (People) is fine. Indian is a dated term - but then I still hear "Indian summer". I'm not sure if it's offensive in that particular context. I'll see what (and if) I can find out (and let you know!)
UPDATE: well, from my short 15 minutes of online research, I've found there seems to be mixed opinions on this. From what I've read, it's not as offensive as the term "Indian giver", but on the other hand, some people avoid using it just in case (and I'm not sure if any of these opinion-givers are Native American). Anyway, avoiding it seems like a good idea. It may be one of those terms that might be offensive to some Native Americans but not others, so it's probably better to play it safe. The American Meteorological Society now uses the term "Second Summer" instead to avoid any controversy.
I am struggling with the PM snacking, and in all honesty too much wine. I have gained 23lbs since my lowest weight. I have not made the time to workout and between that and my horrible eating choices it is no wonder I've gained. I really have no excuse it is all poor choices and lack of motivation. My other excuse was being sick, and lack of energy. I'm going to dedicate myself to actually being accountable and making sure I get my workout on. Get my 10,000 steps in and quit the wine and snacking.
I appreciate all of you sharing your struggles and successes with me. It does help. Now I just have to do it!
I have someone coming this morning to give me an estimate on replacing the windows, I really don't want to do it now. But I figure an estimate won't hurt.
QOTD- Mine was a don't remember the year but a Dodge Charger with a 360 4 speed, that I made the mistake of putting a 3/4 cam in it. But it was fast! The other one was a Nissan 280Z, can you tell I like fast cars. My ultimate would be a '57 T-Bird my boss had one and I drooled over it.
Friday night I fell in the bathtub and banged my head, my own fault but it still hurts.
Have a great day everyone!

I appreciate your honesty - keep doing that and showing up for yourself! I have been where you and worse. It's tough to turn it around, but honesty is where it starts. It can be done and you know you will feel better if you do take care of yourself.
