What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
on 9/20/24 2:54 am
Welcome to the weekend, gang! I have every intention of looking that ^^that guy^^ for a decent amount of time over the next few days. This week is definitely kicking my butt. Tomorrow I'm also getting a keratin treatment for my hair which I am very excited about! I had told myself I would try to embrace my naturally curly-do and stop spending money on keratin, but I'm so over it. Goodbye frizzies!
My 6 month review went really well!!!! My boss is a dream and she made me feel really good about what I have accomplished so far. I continue to be so happy with my decision to go back to school last year and give my life a complete re-do. It was a little scary at the time but I am so happy about where it ultimately led me :)
QOTD: Did you have a favorite lunchbox as a kid? I listened to a great podcast the other day about a 70s and 80s lunchbox artist and it was such a great story and brought me back to childhood in an instant. My favorite was a tin one with Holly Hobby!
Accountability: I really just completely lost my appetite this week. It's taken me from Monday - Friday to eat the small flatbread I got on Monday. Each piece was smaller than my hand, and it had 8 pieces. I am still not done with it and that's almost exclusively what I have eaten this week. I also got a ton of steps yesterday - many of them running, as I sprinted to the train last night (made it!)
- protein coffee
- chicken sausage
- flat bread
- honey mustard chicken salad
G'morning all!
JB - congrats on your positive 6 months review. I never got a good result with Keratine treatment, my hair needed the harsh Japanese conditioning to relax. Enjoy the hair appt and share pics with your straight hair.
Day 7- last but not least Rainbow Mountain. This beauty was not even visible 11 years ago, under the glacier. Don't let anybody tell you climate change is not real because until 11 years ago this mountain was covered by glaciers and snow. We were dropped off at 15,000 elevation and had to hike "only" 3 miles and 2,000 feet elevation change. Poor DH had a hard time; according to him not so much physically but his head was swimming and he couldn't focus. It was worth the hike and discomfort to see the colors. And I took pics both with Llamas and Alpacas. Total tourist trap but had to do it.
QOTD: I honestly can't remember. I'm sure it was some sort of Disney character.
My meals yesterday:
- Coffee
- TikTok cucumber salad w/Tuna
- L&F yogurt (apple caramel)
- Protein icecream - coffee
- E: 6 miles wog
Happy Fri-yay!

amazing pictures! Good for DH for soldiering through, altitude impacts are no joke! And sadly, climate change too. We talked about tourist traps when we were on vacation -- yes, everyone makes fun of them, but sometimes it's fun to remember that you're a tourist and do the tourist thing! You clearly did so much more than just that so enjoy the touristy pictures.

All of the pics you have posted have been unbelievable but the rainbow mountain is one of the most incredible things I have ever seen! Absolutely stunning. I am surprised I have not seen pictures of it before and didn't know it existed.
So happy that you got the trip of a lifetime :)
Wonderful pictures. And you didn't say the lama was wearing sunglasses!
What kind of hiking boots do you guys like?
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
Somehow the locals think having glasses on make llamas more photogenic?
Not sure if the question about hiking boots is sarcastic (referring to the influencer I mentioned yesterday) or serious. But according to DH (expert hiker/backpacker) if you are not prone to twist your ankles you are better off with trail running sneakers than high boots. I went with what he suggested, but after the last hike and seeing every body else, I wanna try a real hiking boot on our next outing.

I have great hiking boots for those rare times I agree to do a hike that's on loose terrain....they are so freaking heavy. Much prefer my hiking shoes or trail runners (not that I run). I do have twisty ankles so they are good for that but again, I swear each boot is 90 lbs.

That's what my husband says too. And last thing you want is heavy boots on a long hike.

Oh, it was serious. I have a hard time finding good shoes or boots that keep my feet happy for a long stretch. You both seem to have the same brand. How and what are they? You've certainly put on a lot of miles.

He is wearing Hoka trail runners. (I have the same but I use mine for my weekly runs in the forest and love them).
I have Solomon trek something.
Those shoes served me well on all of our hikes, but on this last one on day 3 I started having blisters all over. Obv the shoes weren't new, but I think the pounding of that many miles a day and so many days in a row my feet couldn't handle it any more. The terrain was also very hard: boulders, high steps up and down, etc.
That's why I decided to try another type of shoes and specifically hiking boots, because in our group of hikers I was the only one with blisters and everybody else had hiking boots. One exception was the marathon runner, she was wearing Merrell Peak 5, that's on my list too to try.
Sorry for rambling on but it's a "sore" subject and I'm on a mission to find better shoes.
