What's on your Thursday Menu?
Good morning! Yesterday's 1 pm book club was an interesting and rollicking discussion over Jodi Picoult's Covid book Wish you were here. 90 percent of our large group on one side, 10 percent on the other. And then coffee and treats after at my neighbor's house turned into husbands showing up, wine and pizza. I did not have an afternoon snack and I did not indulge in the treat. But when the pizza showed up I had the toppings of three pieces (like 3" wide at the top) and probably 3 glasses of wine. I didn't get home from "book club" until almost 9 last night. Ha! Under accountability, 7 minutes of exercise and 5,073 steps.
Today is interviewing a new dog sitter and then gym for the treadmill for steps and the EGYM circuit. Nice, low key day.
QoTD1: I would keep her blocked. I am sorry she struggles so with alcoholism. I wish her the best. But it's not my job to be witness to her getting her act together. And while I find lots of stuff she says amusing and entertaining in a train wreck sort of way, I can't abide the way she attacks people in our group under the guise of advice.
QoTD2: No. I never got started on it and do not need it 97% of the time. And even normies get bloated and uncomfortable occasionally. I drink lots of fluid and eat some sort of roughage nearly every day.
Bites today
B: egg/chicken scramble
L: leftover roast chicken and green beans
D: I'm going to try and cook a boneless lamb leg for the first time ever. Artichoke and a little mashed potato to round things out. Maybe try to make some mint sauce with the mint in my little garden.
Peace!

G'morning all!
Day 5- finally at Machu Picchu, we hiked and suffered for 46 miles to see this lost city in the middle of the mountains. The history and mystery of this place is mind boggling. I was very happy we had a knowledgeable guide who told us a lot about the history, instead of going through the place willy nilly.
QOTD1: we all decide for our own mental health being. She sure is a train wreck and I honestly don't know how long she will be sober enough to post. For now she is getting her fix on the DS board, with no interaction from anybody else.
QOTD2: I haven't stopped taking Miralax since surgery. I tried the other thing from the conference but for me wasn't working as well so back to M. No side effects in the 7 years I have been taking it.
My meals yesterday:
- Coffee
- Scrambled eggs w/shredded cheese
- Cold cuts w/Cornichon, L&F yogurt (pumpkin)
- Protein icecream - Mexican hot cocoa
- E: strength training
Happy almost Fri-yay!

They strongly suggest to acclimate in Cusco (11,000 feet) for a couple of days. And then they give you coca leaves that they say it's good for elevation. I have no idea if it's effective or not, but during our hike every morning at 4:00 am the guide handed us a cup of coca tea.

If I ever go back I'll do the same. The hike was one of those "yeah, I did it" kinda things.
You would take the train to Agua Calientes (cuuuuute little town with tons of souvenirs stalls) and then you take a bus ride up that is sickening even if you don't suffer from motion sickness. The curves are just...ugh!
Funny thing, we arrive at Machu a Picchu all bruised and tired. You can see from our clothes we have been hiking for days. I see this girl at the gate, I'm sure an influencer, in what she thought was hiking gear. Brand new hiking boots, hiking pants tucked into her brand new boots, beautiful jacket and top, hair all done, taking pics of herself with the background. I couldn't stop laughing because we were so disheveled in comparison to her and I'm sure people see her pics and think yeah, she hiked to Machu Picchu.

Imagine the work, to build a city in a place like that? And then to transport food there, every day. Life was hard work.
You guys look so great!
