What's on your Monday menu?

yup!

Good mornin everyone! It's the start of a new week and the last week of August!

Not much happening today. We have to pick the kids up and that's all that's planned.

I've been having some pretty disturbing nightmares lately. It's been really unsettling. Also weird anxiety issues. I am going to cut back on the sleep aid as that's the only thing that's changed. I have to call this morning to set up my MRI! Woot! It's really been bothering me so I am glad to get the ball rolling.

QOTD: what is something that's on your playlist right now?

My most recent favorite is Jeris Johnson. He just released a new album.

B: eggs, cheese and coffee

L: shredded beef and corn

D: maybe shrimp.

I took these ten years ago today. I still adore them.

Good morning, everybody!

I'm kind of tired this morning and my feet are a little beat up, but generally I am feeling good.

My goal was to do 2:30 and I ended up with 2:28, so I met my goal, but not in the way that I expected. I was so happy with my swim - jumped in, found my stroke and swam the entire 750 meters unbroken. I never saw the resting ropes that they talked about in the introductory course. It was pretty easy to stay on course because there were so many lifeguard boats in the water. My swim time was about 18 minutes.

First transition took forever! Out of the water, 400 meters to the transition area, wetsuit off, tri-suit on, towel down , take a sip of water, shoes socks, etc. That took 14 minutes, almost as long as the swim. The ride was faster than I thought, 67 minutes, but took more out of me than I thought. Riding on Lakeshore Drive with traffic closed off was so pretty! After a 5 minute second transition, I struggled to get running for the last leg and ended up walking a good part of the last 2 miles. My 5K time was 43 minutes. Between the swim and the run, the temprature went into the 90's and they put up red flags.

After the race, they had hot dogs and beer, which had sounded really fun Saturday night but was a no go for me. The walk from the finish to the transition area to pick up my bike and from the transition are to the hotel was a Death March. We drove home and just rested.

I think that I want to do more of these triathlons, but I need a lighter, larger, and faster bicycle. I probably won't make any decisions until we get back from Asia in October. I definitely want to keep swimming.

QOTD: My same old Casette Classic station on Sirius. We are going to Pearl Jam on Thursday night.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Catered

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day, all!
