The only thing my dad knew how to make were fried egg or fried bologna sandwiches (and if he was feeling fancy, fried egg & balogna) and I loved how the bologna would curl up and get all crispy. I don't think I be had that since I left home 35 years ago!

School shoes, lol! Reminds me of when the shake and bake pork chops would burn, we called them hockey pucks!
For the record, fried bologna was the bomb - total treat!

I had many a meal of fried bologna. Sometimes it came with a casing you had to peel off. Once in a while I would bite into a piece of bologna and get a mouthful of plastic strip that mom forgot to peel off.
Sometimes, if I was hungry for a snack, I'd just eat an uncooked hot dog from the fridge. Saturday night was always franks and beans.

Oh, canned brown bread paired perfectly with franks and beans!

Franks and beans were a regular meal on the rotation in our house, too. It was one of my dad's favorites, though not complete without the brown bread in can.
