What's on your Thursday Menu?
G'morning all!
Very happy for you, JB, to finally straightened out the prescription situation, it must have been very frustrating.
We have been following the Olympics every nigh****ching the highlights. I was questioning Snoop Dog's presence at each event until somebody explained to me that he has become the US team's mascot. Weird choice but OK. I guess at some point, a couple of years ago, he was the commentator of a sporting event and people liked his sense of humor, so now he is the comic relief? I admit I don't understand his humor, lost in translation for me, but most people seem to like him.
On the other hand, I totally understand the humor of a certain Norwegian athlete that has been dubbed the muffin man at the Olympic village. Supposedly he is in love with the chocolate muffins provided by the food court at the village and makes videos about them. Seems like now everybody wants those muffins. I think they should taste the Costco chocolate muffins!
QOTD - books and crochet, together. I have a crochet project that hasn't been touched for a couple of months due to life schedules. I'd love to fini**** and send it off to its destined owner.

Thanks for the reminder about coffee flavored protein ice cream! I really want a chocolate muffin now, lol.

PSA: don't forget the pudding powder. I always wondered what the pudding powder does.
In my head when I prep the icecream there are 3 ingredients: PP, protein powder, pudding powder. When I went to make the coffee one the three ingredients were PP, protein powder, coffee. Totally spaced out on the pudding powder. The icecream came out grainy and not as creamy as usual. Now I know why.
Also, for a strong coffee flavor I use a tbsp of instant cold brew from TJ. It's much stronger than when I put two shots of espresso in it.

Since our mixes are non-fat, the pudding mix replaces the fat texture from what I've read. The grainy texture makes total sense. I'll be sure to not forget! And pick up some instant cold brew too - thanks!

I've made coffee ice cream a couple of times, too (well, the protein variety - I used to make regular coffee ice cream pre-surgery). The problem is, I love it so much I eat way more than I should! I made mint ice cream the other day, too - same deal. Those are probably my two favorite kinds! (although this ice cream is so much lower in calories than the regular kind and so high in protein that a splurge probably isn't the end of the world...I could count it as a meal if I had to..)
The icecreams I make (a whole pint) with the ninja creami are high protein, low carb and low sugar. That was the whole reason I got the ninja creami. And because I can live on icecream (my dream life) I sub one meal with icecream. Most normal people use icecream for after meal dessert, for me it's the main attraction and I gladly skip the meal.

yes - same here - I have a regular Cuisinart ice cream maker (the kind with a condenser, so I don't have to freeze it first - I just mix it up, dump it in the ice cream maker, and 45 minutes later, I have ice cream!). But I do it the same way - protein shake and SF pudding mix (or sometimes Fairlife milk + protein powder + SF pudding mix). It works well and it's safe to eat in large quantities! (LOL!!)
Good morning! Under accountability...20 peanut M&M's. I'd blame Roger, but it was definitely me popping them in my mouth. No actual exercise either. I was in go mode all day long and got so many things crossed off my to do list. It's looking like a casino around here and there are signs and cards and clip boards and everything everywhere. When you open my fridge you have to have cat like reflexes as things try to jump out. Steps ended up at 7,053. I was truly surprised at the low number. I was on my feet nonstop from 6 am to 4 pm and hit up 7 stores! But, progress is being made.
Today my day started with a nine pound weight gain. I replaced the batteries and lost four pounds. I think my scale is tanking. I mean, I did choose to eat the M&M's, but 5 pounds in one day seems suspicious to me. I'll give it a few days before I start researching new scales. I am vain enough though to not have allowed my tracker to record that weight. Up next, we need to go buy all the beverages for the event, I have to go back to the craft store for two lousy pieces of paper because grown up Lisa can't count, there is bank run for deposit and we need small bills to float the till to get started and we have to stop by two more places to pick up raffle prizes. Another full and busy day.
QoTD: Except for this week, I am beyond grateful that I don't need more hours in the day. I would only spend them reading or watching cooking shows. And that's not a bad thing either.
Bites today
B: bacon and eggs (and then I have to bake up 5 pounds of bacon to chop up for the mashed potato bar at the event)
L: I hope to be home, but don't think we will. Maybe the insides of a deli sandwich if we are out and about.
D: still have not made the steak. Roger didn't get home last night until late for me to get going on it, so we ate leftovers. So, steak tonight. Yum
Peace Everybody.
